I am having cataract surgery on my right eye in about a month. I will discuss at my next oncology visit how long I have to stop Zanubrutinib, but I wanted to know if anyone had a slower healing process as a result of being on treatment? I also have Fuchs dystrophy, but my corneas are still of normal thickness so no treatment for that yet.

cataract surgery while on Zanubrutinib
I had cataract surgery on both my eyes in March ( 2 weeks apart ). I am currently in a trial and on Pirtobrutinib. My trial doctor saw no reason for me to go off the Pirto as she considered the surgery as one that usually doesn't involve any bleeding.
I don't know about Zanabrutinib so it's whatever your doctor decides.
On an added note my eyes are excellent, do not need to wear glasses anymore, just sunglasses outside because everything is so much brighter and clearer.
Good luck, Jack
I am on zanabrutinib and will be having cataract surgery soon. My doctor told me I should go off zanabrutinib three days before and five days after surgery.
The official Brukinsa/zanubrutinib website brukinsa.com/#isi states:
Before taking BRUKINSA, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:
- have had recent surgery or plan to have surgery.
- Your healthcare provider may stop BRUKINSA for any planned medical, surgical, or dental procedure
Long term follow-up of other BTKi drugs, has not shown any loss in effectiveness for patients who have had short pauses (such as for surgery). I expect the same will be the case with zanubrutinib.
