4 weeks into starting acalabrutinib

I started acalabrutinib 4weeks ago. When I started my white cells were at 85, red cell 127, and platelets at 80. My spleen was 20 cm and many lymph nodes in neck, under arms, and groin. One week in my first blood work showed white blood at 315, and platelets and red blood increased a little. My spleen and lump nodes are getting smaller. What can I expect to see after 4 weeks and beyond ??? Side effect so far are some headaches, sores on inside of both cheeks, and some muscle pain , but nothing too bad. I have my next Dr appt in a few days so hoping for more good results Thank God for Acalabrutinib.

Most likely your WBC and absolute lymphocyte will come down. Your platelets and red blood cell counts should continue their trend upwards and your spleen and lymph nodes continue to shrink.

It’s great that the side effects so far have been not too much of a bother.

Just be aware the coffee or caffeine will give relief for those headaches! Sounds like you are following the normal response. You should se a gradual decrease in the WBC. However, it took four plus weeks for mi e to really drop now I am so normal it scares me!

All the very very best to you!

I'm 2 and a half months into acalabrutinib and had no side effects, my energy has seen a real improvement. My white blood cells have halved and the consultant seems really pleased with my progress. It is very positive and I hope it continues for you too.

I've been on Acalabrutinib for 2.5 months and my spleen was about 20cm when I started. I also had headaches and was more exhausted for the first month but the headaches only lasted a month and my energy is starting to improve. My WBC doubled in the first month (I started at 100 but was told that's normal (it will be checked again in 3 weeks). Side effects can vary on an almost weekly basis but things definitely get easier after the first 4 to 6 weeks. I think my spleen is a bit smaller but no change to my lymph nodes, if anything that's worse as my hands have started to really swell up at night.
