Abnormally high liver enzymes
Hi May1270,

That is a complex question and why hematologists and hepatologists spend 14 years learning their specialties. For us CLL patients it is like a "check engine" light on our dashboard. It says there is a potential problem, but it takes an expert with sophisticated instruments to figure out the exact cause.

The doctors will step through a process call "differential diagnosis"

Some of the potential causes can be linked to our CLL, but many others are not.

They can fluctuate for lots of reasons including the above. If your doctor is concerned they will flag it up. Otherwise, there is a good chance they will stabilise again in the normal range. Try not to worry too much.
You need to avoid damaging your liver as much as possible. 0 alcohol 0 processed foods zero fructose 0 fruits. Drugs do damage the liver too but if you have to take them you have to take them there is no escape. All other stuff that damages the liver and you do not need to ingest you must avoid.
