Good News After Doc Visit

Ever since last January when the flow cytometry came back undetected minimum residual disease along with a negative bone marrow biopsy in November my husband’s chart has always still said his diagnosis is CLL not having achieved remission. I asked him why it still said that and he said well there’s always some cells floating around he would take a flow cytometry test to show whether or not there are any cells left and it would be interesting to do one I reminded him that in January it was U-MRD with zero cells detected I saw him go back over the chart he brought up the flow cytometry and the bone marrow biopsy and he said well it appears he is in clinical remission. Finally the words I wanted my husband hear him say. When I say he ignored me. He also stated that my husband is in the best physical condition he has been in since he began treating him in 2015 and all of this at his age of 83. His blood work is perfect. Now if anyone could just come up with a final cure for his leg cramps it would be smooth sailing.

I hope the post didn’t seem insensitive to those here with greater health issues but It is good for those in watch and wait that treatment has come so far. He has had challenges for sure with a stroke in 2012, the CLL diagnosis in 2015 and treatment starting 2017 and then heart valve replacement 2018 an almost fatal AIHA in 2020 and starting O with Venclexta in 2021 to now. Not to mention the Covid crisis starting in 2020 which has made him so fearful with his age and CLL. I just wanted him to get the reassurance from his doctor that he is doing well because I want to live life a little fuller since my cancer diagnosis this year and successful treatment with surgery alone. I will definitely check out that snake juice treatment. The last one was so bad I had to call 911 I thought he was going to have a heart attack or stroke he was in such pain and his blood pressure really shot up and he turned beet red. I’ve tried giving him pickle juice, bananas, tonic water with additional Cinchona drops magnesium, potassium and electrolyte water and we’ve had his arteries and veins checked out and they are all OK. His dermatologist suggested compression stockings which he’s been wearing for about a week now so I’m open to anything that anybody has to offer. For those who have the irritating itching he prescribed a cream called Eucrisa and he will start that and I will report on its effectiveness. Have a great week everyone!
