Knowing we have a much greater risk of Melanoma figured I’d share this news:
“Moderna's messenger RNA vaccine is being studied in combination with Merck's Keytruda to treat patients with high-risk melanoma, the deadliest form skin cancer, in a phase 2 trial.”
Link to an article about Moderna and Merck working on a Melanoma mRNA vaccine:
Great news. Since chemo in started Feb 2018, I have had 7 squamous cell carcinomas. One had inadequate margins at the time of resection and I have had 2 more crop up in the same area around my eye. The second was close enough to my eye that there was pre-op plan that if during the MOHS surgery, I would go to the occulo-plastics doc for more surgery including the possibility of removing my eye. Fortunately, all I ended up with is a big skin graft from my ear to my eye.
I've also had a malignant melanoma on my neck since then and the incision to remove it was nearly 10 inches long.
So I get every suspicious looking thing check out ASAP, stay out of the sun during peak UV index, wear sun screen and cover up every possible area of skin.
A vaccine would be a great addition for me!
Any ideas on the concept that a lot of CLL patients don't have good functioning B and T cells and how that might affect the Vaccine.
