Just for interest I am posting a copy of my latest e-mail to my MP. It is ridiculous that the UK govt. which was so quick to recognise the importance of vaccines, can be so slow in approving a treatment that would offer a similar level of protection to the CEVs for whom the vaccines are largely ineffective.
"David, Thank you.
Just to let you know several MPs and Members of the House of Lords have raised this issue in parliament, but we, the immune suppressed need more help. Vicky Foxcroft asked about the drug at Prime Minister’s Questions. I believe Caroline Lucas, Craig Mackinlay, and Lord Mendelsohn have also raised the issue. Hugh Pym commented on BBC news that while the country was celebrating the falling Covid numbers, the immune suppressed (perhaps half a million people), were feeling forgotten.
One of the Lords to whom a colleague wrote, responded, generously: “We have an option which works and is available in other 25 countries and works exceptionally well. […] The CEV [Clinically Extremely Vulnerable] community has been let down by the whole health structure including the scientists and researchers. […] I am really at a loss to know whether it is heartlessness or incompetence that stops the UK making Evusheld available, but this should be an affordable and easy process to deliver and the fact that we aren’t doing it just beggars’ belief.”
Anything you can do will be very appreciated.
Roger"

Hi thank you for this post. The response you have received is more promising than the response Me2ASWELL posted earlier today in which the MP involved suggested as there are treatment options available to us now so prevention was not a priority. We are getting mixed messages about prevention in a daily basis now which suggests to me the government and public health are quite happy for us to live a restricted lifestyle return to normal and risk our lives. I have written to my MP but have had no response so far.
In my opinion this is unacceptable and needs to be addressed both inside and outside of the political arena. Our human rights and liberties are on hold while the rest of society returns to normal. Clearly this government doesn’t care.
Thank you Roger and I'm also with you on the points you raise Ann. This situation has driven a coach and horses through my right to have a private medical life. Everyone from the butcher, baker and Amazon know I am a CEV person made worse by society returning to normal and I having to tell people, I do not want knowing my business, that I can't attend meetings etc. The country will have jubilee celebrations early June and we will be left out. Sitting at home whilst everyone parties! If we could get the media to focus on that aspect, it may help our case. Emotion sometimes works better than data.
Thank you . Just knowing that it was going to happen would give some comfort. I find it inexplicable as the costs are relatively small within the overall budget for health and can be offset against the savings which would result from those needing care not going into hospital.
