Will I be needing more booster vaccines? I received the latest results from the LLS study and I was not pleased with the results. After a bout with covid at the start of the year and receiving my 4th Moderna vaccine my antibody test came back >2500 Needless to say I was happy with those results. Five weeks later and my latest test shows a drop in antibodies from >2500 to 147. At that rate I'm thinking yet more booster vaccines might be in order. Not a pleasant thought but possibly what the doctor will order

I don't think that you should be worried. There is no need to have a high circulating level of antibodies continuously for months on end. They naturally decline with time but memory cells remain. So your body should be able to ramp up antibody production quickly if you meet a new infection.
thank you for that information. I wasn't aware of memory cells or how they work. Though thinking about it I see now that all other vaccines that are only given once a year or once in a lifetime rely on these memory cells. Although I'm still wondering why we are encouraged to get 4 vaccines with the possibility of a fifth if antibody memory cells will rise with exposure to covid.
My understanding is that the fourth or 5th vaccines are recommended to people who formed no antibodies hence likely no memory cells either. Despite forming no antibodies the vaccines likely trigger a certain extent of t cell based immunity as well. So likely the thinking goes that more vaccines are better. I have only three of them and I'm not planning to get a fourth one. I never had my antibody levels checked either. I just wear my mask properly and do my best to avoid the infection. Hopefully omicron is not deadly enough to kill me in case of an infection after three vaccines. But if it is, it's fate, so be it, I'm ready. My attitude is rooted in stoicism. Do your best and leave the rest in the hands of the maker.
