16/3 I just wanted to update you here on my experience of Covid. So after feeling a little unwell for a few days, yesterday the symptoms really hit. It's very odd because they come in waves. So imagine the worst flu you have had, but the symptoms only hit for a couple of hours at a time. In fact, in the morning I feel much better, by the afternoon I am flat on my back. The worst symptom is restlessness, and not being able to sleep even when you are very tired.
I did get my Antivirals on the same day I tested positive, the process was incredibly quick and organised. I was prescribed Plaxlovid, which is an "at home" treatment comprised of 3 tablets twice a day. I had to stop Ibrutinib for 8 days (5 days during, 3 days after) as the drugs interact. You will need normal biochemistry to take them.
The NHS is also monitoring my oxygen stats 3 times a day, I just need to text the result. I don't feel Covid in my chest, so I am not concerned.
I have taken two doses of the Antiviral now, so we will see if the symptoms start to subside. All in all, I feel fine.
14/3
After dodging covid for the last 2 1/2 years, today I got it. Felt strange for a few days and then last night I had a restless night and hangover type headaches. Woke up, tested and I got it. I feel fine but the GP is chasing down the antivirals for me. I’ll post my experiences here over the next few days. Im sure it will be fine, 4 doses of Pfizer and the antivirals.

Do keep us posted on your condition. I’m glad that your GP is on it for you.
What did you mean by “4 doses of the Pfizer and antivirals”?
The 4 doses refer to the vaccine and boosters but did you also receive something else or do you mean the antivirals that your GP is working on for you.
Just to update. Within 2 hours of speaking to my GP, the NHS doctor rang to check on me and arrange antivirals. I needed to provide some latest blood readings to check bio chemistry. I need to stop Ibrutinib for 8 days, 5 during treatment and 3 days after. Antivirals will arrive after 3pm today! Fantastic quick turnaround. Personally I feel fine, little bit of headache and a slight cough.
Why do you need to come off Ibrutinib? I had covid a couple of weeks ago and didn’t know that. Thankfully I only had a sore throat for a couple of days so didn’t contact my local number for antivirals as I didn’t think I needed them.
I'm 5 years MRD Negative following FCR. I’m on the Flair trial, so still getting bloods and a checkup every six months.
I've had 4 jabs, the last 6 weeks ago. I'm on the ECV list, although I was one of those who didn't get the priority letter until after NHS England were encouraged to check their work. I felt like I was getting ill on Saturday and tested positive for Covid on Sunday, three days after my wife. Clearly our attempts to stay apart in the house weren't good enough.
So, 7:30am, I did what my CLL consultant had suggested when we last met up and called them at the hospital - Royal Bournemouth. By 4pm, a taxi had turned up at the house with my course of Paxlovid. That's impressive.
It’s early Wednesday morning and I now feel fine, but yesterday I had less stamina than normal. Sunday/Monday I felt like I had a bad cold with added short bouts of fever temperatures. Now, just the aftermath in my sinuses and a cough from time to time.
I appreciate I'm not actively being treated right now, unlike many of us. I also appreciate people on watch and wait before their first treatments are probably potentially worse off, but no-one knew how my previously-battered immune system would respond. I'm grateful that the NHS was able to help. I'm fast-tracked my recovery to the point where I've caught up with my wife. It can only have been the Paxlovid, surely?
Just to update. I’m on day 4 of the antivirals and I have recovered quite quickly. I wasn’t terrible unwell with covid, but it also wasn’t a particularly nice experience. The only issue with the Paxlovid is the bitter taste it leaves in your mouth.
I’m kind of glad I got it now, at least I’ve had it and I now know I have antibodies
I will be off my Ibrutinib for a total of 8 days. It will be interesting to see if I get an reoccurrence of side effects when I start it again.
