Hey, folks, wondering -- are those out there taking supplemental curcumin and/or EGCG (from green tea) finding any beneficial responses? Are your liver enzymes increased? Any new research about these supplements? I've been taking about 1200 EGCG and about 2 gms curcumin, several hours apart (as I've read that curcumin could affect the effect of the EGCG), and wondering if I'm doing anything good for myself/ whether I should take more or less or quit taking. Would love to share with others taking these supplements and their experience.

Update on curcumin/EGCG?

I used turmeric and green tea since a long time no side effect so far , eat green vegetables and citrus fruits do exercise and sure peace of mind best treatment for CLL
Hi Vlaminck when I was diagnosed last August the W&W approach didn’t sit well with me so I read about some taking 8g Curcumin 95% daily and decided to give it a go for 8 weeks. I had bloods done before and after as my dr nearly fainted saying it’s toxic to my liver and I wanted to do it safely. The positives I got from it was no more osteo arthritis pain walking every day, my body and muscles felt great (chronic myofascial pain syndrome) so really helped with inflammation, my liver function improved and some changes to my bloods, although being new to CLL don’t really know what it means. I plan on showing my hematologist next visit. Was happy with experience and continue to take daily around 4-6g
Thanks, FreoSue -- glad youve gotten such good benefits from curcumin, but you are surely taking a lot! So I will be interested in your Cll blood results -- please keep us, or me, posted, okay?
These are my bloods the last one 1/11/21 is after the 8 weeks of curcumin
thanks for posting -- looks like lymphs moved in good direction, but any idea why your platelets dropped so much? These tests are all pretty close in time (I only get them every 4-6 months). I think it will be helpful to get measurements over a longer period of time. Did doc give a reason/express concern over your platelets?
I had several blood tests last year for cholesterol and blood sugar before finding out about CLL in August - I see my hematologist every 6 months. So next visit he can hopefully explain results cos I have no idea how to interpret??
Your platelet count is still quite healthy for someone with CLL. Platelet counts jump around considerably and could well recover next blood test.
Your lymphocyte count is remarkably stable, which is good news. Your small lymphoctye drop last test is inconsequential, so I doubt the curcumin is having any effect. This post examines the results of an Australian clinical trial of a turmeric mix on 21 CLL patients, with underwhelming results:

Appreciate the feedback re low platelet count maybe it could be from the Curcumin intake so cutting back on intake
