NO Spike protein Antibodies after 2 Moderna shots and Booster.

I expected this result but I was still hoping I had made antibodies to the covid vaccine. These are the results. <13.0 IgG .. no detectable antibodies against SARS Cov-2 spike protein including the receptor binding domain — whatever that is. I’ve been on imbruvica for a little more than 3 yrs.

The antibodys is one aspect of our immune system. Investigation of T cell response has been less than that for antibodys but comments I have seen indicate that a T cells response has been detected in some that have not produced antibodys. Even where antibodys have been created there is some uncertainty on how to interpret the result for provision of protection against infection. Comments referring to high quantity and low quality may offer less protection of low quantity high quality are not unknown. Even where antibodys have been created the advice is to carry on with previous caution. I'm fortunate 2 AZ and a pfizer I had antibodys and I'm on venetoclax but I have not changed my lifestyle as result, still carry on with same limitations as previous, no bars, only enter quiet shops and enclosed spaces and limited contact with others.

Don't know if the above is beneficial but it is where I am.

Hey Gina

For what its worth we're in the same club. I had two Moderna first that produced no antibodies. Then an immunologist told me to get a Pfizer (before boosters were authorized), so I simply went online to CVS or Walgreens (can't remember now which one) and got a Pfizer shot. Then I got tested again and to no surprise had zero antibodies one month later. Oh well it is what it is.

I have refused to live in a bubble and take vacations and stay in hotels and fly around on the airlines. I even went to Disneyworld in Orlando earlier this year for four parks in four days. Had a great time, and have no regrets. In late September we flew to Boston for my six month appointment at Dana Farber, and from there took the Amtrak to New York. In NYC we took in a Broadway plan on the first week that Broadway was open after two years. Went to restaurants etc. In NYC you cannot enter a public place like Restaurants and Theatre without showing proof of vaccination along with a picture ID; so, I felt totally saft being surrounded by the Herd.

Maybe I'm crazy, and maybe for some reason I'm not susceptible to the Corona. Who knows, but I'm definitely trying to enjoy whatever time this 74 year old still has. This virus isnt going away anytime soon, and maybe never, and within reason I'm going to enjoy life antibiodies or not.

You made me think of my husband (who died some years ago of cancer, not blood). While he was getting treatment, his WBC went to nearly zero and yet he was determined to do what he was able -- he loved to fish and we went to Central America 3 times in rather raw, undeveloped areas (to fish) for a week each time, eating the food, etc. No precautions. He had the best, sweetest oncologist who did NOT recommend this travel but who came to know (and appreciate) husband's determined nature so gave us antibiotics to take with us, and told him to wear a mask on the planes (he didn't). And to his oncologist's surprise, he never got sick (tho still had cancer that finally got him). He actually flew to the Bahamas to fish with some friends 6 days before he died. The long and short of this is that sometimes I think a positive attitude can seem almost magical somehow. Or it certainly seemed so for my husband in this way. And maybe you. For me, with a very young grandchild I see regularly, I am being more cautious than I might otherwise be over Covid. Not enjoying it either.

Dear Vlaminck

Thank you so much for your comments. I have a feeling it is an honor to be compared to your husband, and I'm sure you miss him dearly.

I love life and I want to stay here as long as I can do so. When I finally got diagnosed, I sort of handled it with a smirk and didnt fear it at all. I knew for many years that one day I'd be looking CLL in the eye, and sort of was saying inside: "come and get me, if you can". My Father had it, his Mother had it, and her Father had it too; so, I just figured one day I'd be fighting it also. I've had a roller coaster of a life, so I have always related a lot to the movie character Rocky. You can beat me up, but you better keep looking backwards because I'll be getting back up and coming at you. What I've been through over many years with my youngest Son however, has made me look at this little journey with CLL as a cake walk. I'm not belittling it or saying our group isnt battling something really serious, nor am I making light of the horrible dangers of COVID; instead, I'm just saying I will not stay in a bubble and I'm going to enjoy as much as possible what precious time I have left.

What I say to everything we face, is take life one day at a time. Do the best you can individually do with whatever you face and whatever you fear. As long as you do the best that you can do, then you can always be happy with yourself. Being happy with yourself is the highest level of anything that you can attain, and as I'll be happy with myself even if my too carefree attitude ends up taking me down. I'll look back and smile.

Sometime in the near future I'll be taking two trips for sure. One will be to the Philippines to finally see my now three year old Granddaughter for only the second time. I saw her two years ago, just before the damn Covid took international travel down for a while. The other is to Israel, to see my oldest child my Daughter Lauren get married. To hell with the Covid risk; I'm going.

Yep. Go for it --with such easy cautions as vaccines! Have fun on your trips, and Happy Holidays.

Hi! I don't know what the numbers are but after two Pfizer vaccines Feb / March 2021 and no booster, I am still showing spike antibodies. I am on watch and wait since 2015. I had reactions to the vaccines - my wbc went up 10,000 and my TSH (for thyroid cancer) went up 5x the normal, after first shot. Went back to normal right before second booster. What I didn't know was that my heart was affected as my BP skyrocketed 8 days after first Pfizer vaccine and God only knows after second. The docs were not able to get my blood pressure stabilized so I just did nothing for 6-8 months and finally started feeling better however one day after seeing new CLL doc and 10 hours of sitting including traveling time, I had a minor stroke and they put me on high dose blood thinners, high dose cholesterol meds and midline dose BP meds. Within two weeks all my numbers were perfect. Maybe the blood thinner? I don't know but have a nasty sinus infection on meds for. I think doc needs to lower my meds doses. I wasn't really that off to require such high doses. I also have a PFO -a hole in my heart I was born with. They want me to do a procedure to close it but I refused. Not necessary. I'm pretty sure it was vaccines (but I would most def get them again) I have more risk getting it closed than not. Docs are really PISSED off at me. Sorry. My body. My decision. Anyway. Nice to meet you ❤️
