Got the results of my antibody test back.

GP’s comment

‘Good ab levels, good response to vaccination’

SARS-Cov-2 IgG (Spike)

Reactive

SARS-Cov-2 IgG (Spike)

8124 AU/mL (< 50)

These tests were measured using the Abbott Alinity assay.

Anti-spike antibodies detected. Consistent with previous infection or vaccination. Please correlate with the clinical history. Correlates of protection have not been fully determined and consequently the patient may still be at risk for infection with SARS-CoV-2. COVID-19 vaccination is recommended regardless of prior infection history.

I have had 3 Pfizer jabs.

I think I am ok for now. Can any of the experts on here tell me what the numbers mean?

I'm no expert but this means that your chance of death from covid is substantially less than it was before the vaccination. Given that even otherwise reasonably healthy vaccinated senior citizens who do not have CLL can end up in the hospital and die of covid I would not rely on being uninfectable or invincible or count on a symptomless covid infection and continue masking and social distancing to an acceptable extent.

Yes I agree. In NZ most people wear masks a lot of the time and 90% of the eligible population is now double vaxxed. Vaccine passes are necessary for most indoor activities (as of 3/12)We don’t have a lot of cases and I am more careful when I know there is even one in the community. I am sure the time will come when I will need to be more vigilant but in the meantime am enjoying the relative freedoms afforded by the careful management of this damned virus by our government and medical experts. Long may it last!

Perfect. I wish our government and population were as sensible as yours! We would not be dropping like flies now 😔
