Thanks for sharing, it seems to me likely you will be offered it, but still unsure whether myself, and others on w+w, would qualify. It's down to the definition of follow up, as mentioned qualifying certain conditions. To me follow up does not suggest routine monitoring, but rather following a course of treatment or some intervention. I hope to be wrong, I'd certainly like to be offered it but must assume if not someone has made a clinical assessment that I may not get much benefit. I accept that of course. I'm sure there will be boosters offered later on, which we will all be offered I would hope.

I think you're right and I hope we're both wrong medical-dictionary.thefreed... Even so, some GP surgeries interpret JCVI guidelines more liberally - mine and Newdawn's included.

This JCVI document reads like an academic paper in fine-tuning who will be eligible for a third shot. When the margins of error are as wide as they are, guidelines should err on the side of caution. What's a couple of million quid when govt has splurged tens of billions on a crap app?

Good call with the medical dictionary. Have to see how it goes I guess.

Like you, I am uncertain whether W&W will be included. Logically, if you were on the vulnerable list the first time round you should be included, and results of studies such as the Birmingham led one showing that even those on W&W have a much lower level of antibodies post 1st and 2nd jab reinforce that view. But looking at the NHS letters and templates, I guess it is down to your consultant informing the GP to include you - and if this isn't the case you don't get it.

I always wonder whether this is the 'National' health service or the ,'English' health service . I will look at the Welsh news to see if I can find any information. Thanks for posting,

Cx

Oh, same here. In northern Ireland but thus far local health has followed PHE or NHS England.

Thanks for this… very useful. My husband is due to start Venetoclax on the 13th and then rituximab once the Venetoclax has been ramped up.He told his consultant he did not want the 3rd jab, because she said it would mean delaying the start of treatment but, if I’m reading it correctly, he may be able to have it alongside treatment, even if it does only offer the slightest chance of protection.

We shall wait and see.

Good luck everyone, let’s hope it helps as many as possible.

Has there been any more said in the U.K. about Ronapreve, the monoclonal antibody, being given as a prophylaxis?

Thanks.

Stay safe,

Fran 😷

Very worrying for WW patients. My husband had been on W W for 2 years. l have researched hospital figures, they indicate WW patients have the same prognosis as CCL patient's who have received treatment. I really hope and pray all CLL patient's get offered the third vaccine.

Just reread the list of eligible individuals on that list. I see those eligible are "those under treatment or within 12 months of achieving cure". Is there something they know that we don't?! This is either some amazing news or just emphasises the fact that most people don't understand our condition. I'd have hoped for better.

Quite frankly I expected more. I hope it will be readdressed by those who actually understand the condition.
