The Ontario government announced this afternoon that they will provide third doses of a COVID vaccine to patients with haematological cancers on active treatment for malignant haematological disorders.
It will be up to your physician/clinic to contact you about arranging for this third shot. At first glance, it does not look like patients on w&w are eligible.

Pfizer Booster not officially available in NZ yet as there are still many inhabitants waiting for their first shot, but your post prompted me to email my haematologist to ask if he and colleagues would advocate for this to happen here. 😊
Based on anecdotal evidence, the first two shots do not provide adequate anti-COVID antibodies to a significant portion of CLLers. Therefore, our third shot is really our first shot.
Here is a good summary of the reasoning behind the Ontario government’s announcement.
I know many have expressed a desire to get 3rd booster shot for covid. I would caution all to seek doctor advise. Here in the US, Illinois prison, a group of inmates were accidently given covid shots of 5 times the recommended dosage as each container held 5 doses. All the over dosed inmates were hospitalized, but none died. There is a reason research is conducted to determine number of shot and time interval. There are some persons advocating a series of 5 shots.
The CDC has authorized a third dose for the immune compromised. A properly spaced third dose is quite different from five doses taken all at once. I think most on this site are reasonably well informed and are following proper protocols. Of course, one should always check with their doctor but I don’t think a third dose is taking undue risk.
In Ontario, you can only get a third shot with the consent of your family physician, haematologist, oncologist or cll specialist. So, this should allay your concerns
Agree, Ontario is a wonderful place to live. Although, we do miss the glorious outdoors on Vancouver Island (we lived there for 12 years)
I wouldn’t give up hope yet….most of the provinces move in lock step as far as cancer care is concerned. I wouldn’t be surprised if BC follows suit very soon. Otherwise, as announced in the US today, you’ll be able to walk into any drug store and get a booster shot starting in late September (that’s assuming the border opens soon)
