Spike antibody test query

Can anyone confirm if its sensible to get a Spike antibody test privately and if so, which is the right type. I've had the Astra Zenica x 2 vaccine, more than 2 weeks ago.

Is this a valid type -Roche Elecsys® Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S test confirms?

I was just about to ask the same question. Great minds....!

Just been on the CLL society page to research this and have decided to have the test. I have a conversation with my GP on Friday as he has offered advice on where to get this test. I too looked at the Roche one and will ask my GP to check it out.

On the Q&As written by John C. Byrd M.D on the CLL site about being tested I have pasted this extract " This is where the spike antibody tests can help. In my practice we have been using them. I have been recommending the spike IgG protein (RBD site-specific antibody) test that when detected indicates there has been some level of benefit derived from the vaccine. Some labs report out titers but the relevance of these to CLL patients remains uncertain. For patients where I suspect they may have previously had COVID-19 syndrome, I also test for the nucleocapsid (N) IgG."

Dr Brian Koffman had asked John C Byrd to do a Q&A for CLLers.

So, those Q&As have confirmed for me the decision that I had already made. I'm having the test.

If you want to read the full Q&A here is the link:

Thanks for that. Would you be getting it from the Testing for All people?

UK. I had my antibodies tested by Testing for All and was very happy to find that in early stage CLL I had had a strong antibody response 5 weeks after my second Pfizer vaccination.

Pluses and minuses for me taking the test.

It was quite challenging taking 6ml of blood out of my fingers using lancets. Middle finger was best for me.

You have to find a Priority Post Box on the Royal Mail website.

My consultant was worried that I would get a low level antibody response that would be difficult to interpret. But she was pleased when I emailed her the results.

Testing for All seem like a reputable non profit. They posted the results securely on the site in less than 24 hours of posting.

They gave clear quantitative information with context on how my results compare to other test results.

They are conducting follow up research on their client base to understand distribution of antibodies response results better.

Cost was £49.

The general consensus of other experts is NO, unless you are part of a clinical trial / study.

Assuming you are in the USA ( please fill in your profile and history here: healthunlocked.com/user/Jak...

You can join the LLS.org study and have the tests done at any LabCorp site for free, and that will provide more data so the experts can figure out how to interpret the results. Please use this link:

ciitizen.com/LLSCOVIDStudy/

Please read the LLS disclaimer that applies to all the tests we now have available:

It is yet undetermined what level of antibody to SARS-CoV-2 spike protein correlates to immunity against developing symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 disease. Studies are underway to answer this question and will provide valuable insights into the correlation between protection from vaccination and antibody levels. It is important to note that LLS will not provide an interpretation of your test results. The results should always be assessed in conjunction with your medical history, clinical examination, and other findings. You should contact your healthcare provider for additional guidance on how to interpret your test results.

Just as a matter of interest, I have taken part in a study called the OCTAVE trial (funded by Birmingham university) in the UK. Unfortunately you do not get individual results. But it's for the greater good I suppose.

My insurance covered it & I volunteered for the LLS study. I live in the USA.So I will have several over a period of time. Be interesting to see if there are any changes along the way.
