The websites for Mayo Clinic and NIH say that the combination of Covid disease survivors and vaccines both contribute to herd immunity. Presently the covid disease survivors show immunity is good for at least 8 months or more. The vaccine has not been around long enough to know if it will be as good or better. Also, it appears the covid disease survivors may be handling the mutation or variants better than the vaccine, but again it is a bit early at this time.

I had Covid December 9 2020. I received my Covid vaccine second dose about 3 weeks ago. I’m hoping the fact that I had Covid and the vaccine I’m protected. That being said I still were my surgical mask every time I’m in a public place.

And I gotta say a lot of people are Not wearing masks anymore where I like in NY. To your point about the study saying having had Covid gives protection make me feel better, as I’ve been stressed about maybe not having any or little protection from the vaccine. But like you said is far to early to know how well the vaccine will work on Cll.

Best wishes

John

I’ve never had the Antibody Test , I don’t understand what the results mean. Is a positive test good or is negative good ?

just saw oncologist yesterday she says it shows I had covid-19, which I did and I have a very good supply of antibodies. I duuno may have been a blessing in disguise to have gotten the RONA. Seems that's best way to get antibodies???

Hi zaax. The above replies are from the US, and commonly their tests report antibodies to both nucleocapsid and spike proteins. If only the latter tests positive the response is to vaccine, not infection.

In the UK the test kits most people are buying now test spike only. If you want to be sure you can buy a separate nucleocapsid test, often advertised as being a test for past infection.
