I have heard on the news that we Cll people should have the vaccine close together to get more protection, I have been in touch today with my hematologist’s Secretary to ask if it’s ok to have the second jab sooner. She is going to ask my Consultant.

Hi all, have any of my CLL friends had their second AstraVeneca vaccine 7 weeks after the first one?
I had second today at 8 weeks but I believe it's only the gap in Pfizer jabs that the concerns about at present
I noticed that my second jab was booked for 13 weeks after my first. I was a bit concerned so spoke to my GP surgery and they couldn’t have been more helpful. They have changed it for me and it’s now Monday, which is just 6 weeks after my first so I’m feeling happier. Jackie
That’s great to here, my GP said I had to get in touch with my Consultant to get the go ahead to have my second jab. I’m waiting to here from them. I know I will feel happier having it sooner. Ros
I think panic is setting in. Hopefully not.
There is enough vaccine for all second doses, that’s why the under 50’s are not too happy with their delay.
Reading about AZ the space in weeks is beneficial anytime 6 to 12 weeks after the first dose.
Having booked online my second date is 11 weeks after the first. I see no problem with that.
I won’t start phoning the GP and consultant.
Anyway we can’t really let down the total shielding until all adults have been inoculated and for some age groups that second dose will be in October!
Plus today we hear about a booster vaccine for CEV in September- 20 weeks away.
I was concerned to get the first vaccine but the second will happen and by summer we’ll know more about how effective they’ve been.
Going to be a Happy Christmas 2021.
No panicking , it’s been said blood cancer patients shouldn’t wait 12 weeks for 2 nd jab as the first one you don’t get a good response so having the second one earlier hopefully you get a better immunity. And yes they are saying September we will have a booster which is great. Ros
All these studies are pretty small. We will know more in the summer and then the booster might be the most important.
I do wonder that those with CLL are all at different stages and many taking different treatments; that a single statement cannot fit all.
Yes, we have CLL and our immune system does not work that well but are we all exactly the same?
I think depending on what stage you are and treatment makes a difference I’m not to sure, I’m just learning as I was diagnosed in Jan 2020 W&W so I’m knew to all of this. Like you said hopefully in the summer we might find out more. Ros
Which one did you have?Cx
Hi I had the Astra V
Thanks, me too. Wonder if it’s worth me ringing up?I was wondering which one Jackie had.

I had the Astra Zeneca one too
I just got a text from GP. Vax 2 tomorrow, 9 weeks since 1st.
Mine will be today and that is nine weeks after first Astrazeneca. Pleased with that, of course. Didn’t have to flag anything up. Although husband who had Pfizer ten days before me has it had his second. Believe this is caused by supply issues. Due mid April and he has the appointment. Over seventy but no health issues. Happy weekend to one and all. Jude.
My 2nd jab was booked on the day I had the 1st. 8 weeks between each jab. I am 63. Mine was done when the 70 and overs were done. We will have to be sensible. Eventualy scientists will be to tell if people like us will get good protection. If the folk around us are vaccinated we will have extra immunity. The uk numbers are going down and the danger is lower. Today it was announced that boosters would be available in the autumn and will protect against new variants.

I was told the second shot Astrazeneca I will have after 12 weeks, it's supposed to give stronger protection, but beastly long to wait. After 2 weeks zero antibodies.
