You may be silently suffering from acid reflux. Have you lost your voice recently? I had no regular symptoms but lost my voice. Had some chest weird feelings.
I had FCR treatment. Hope you have a port. My chemo was uneventful. Only needed 3 cycles. Ask them if they plan to test after 3. I was able to stop.
Agree with GM ! I couldn’t work out what my tight chest meant. My BP has been creeping up, a combination of Ibrutinib and stress. GP thought I also had acid reflux and Lansoprazole seems to have sorted out that problem.
Thank you for your reply. My doc thought the same and i was prescribed something for it. But that was 3 weeks ago and no change. Also iam getting a bit breathless. Hopefully once I start treatment it will go.Take care x
Thanks for reply colette. Am sleeping quite well really. Feel tired lately more than normal. Hopefully it will go soon. But will mention it again when I go the hos next week and see what they say.Hope u r doing ok take care x
The tiredness will hopefully go when you start treatment. I could barely put one foot in front of the other and regularly fell asleep at the dinner table.
Yes do mention it. Write a list of all your questions, or are you able to bring someone with you yet ?
Thanks I am fine I just didn’t want to take even more pills.
I have acid refux - discovered when I had chest pain, then rushed to a hospital where 5 minutes later I was apologizing to everyone after popping a Mylanta. But I also have coronary heart disease - discovered despite not being rushed to a hospital with chest pain. What I learned with CHD is that it can present with various symptoms or no symptoms at all (like CLL). I also learned that almost every test they use to diagnose heart problems, laboratory, electrophysiology, and imaging can all check out and give you a false sense of security. So to keep you from 'checking out' I'd explore further heart testing.
For me, I didn't even have symptoms; it was a fortuitous series of events that led me to a cardiologist, and even more fortuitous was his ordering a heart catheterization a week after I got a false negative result on a nuclear stress test & was a week before open-heart surgery.
The moral of my story is just to let you know tests used to check out the heart are all well and good unless they're not. There are all sorts of tests available and unless you're looking inside the arteries you never know with total certainty. My feeling is there's nothing to lose (except perhaps financially) in pushing for more and more conclusive testing. After all, most of the time symptoms are your body's attempt to tell you there's a problem to address. My problem was that my body wasn't talking (& thankfully I discovered the secret it was keeping from me), so I'd listen to your body and get some 2nd opinions.
Anyway, hope it's just gas. Good luck and good health.
Wow gene what a journey u have gone through. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. Am back at the hos on wed for some bone marrow results, so definitely going to mention it again. Hope u r doing ok take care x
My dad ended up in the hospital a year ago for pleural effusion caused by his CLL, which had been diagnosed just a month prior. He was experiencing shortness of breath and pain on one side of his chest, which eventually became excruciating.
The hospital performed lots of tests and it still took about a week for them to figure out what the problem was. They were able to drain the liquid from his lungs and now he is undergoing treatment for the CLL and doing much better.
Just want to echo those who are encouraging you to push for additional testing if the problem continues and/or worsens. Hope you feel better soon!
I had tightness and started having shortness of breath as well and they did an ECG and they said it looked normal. I requested a cardiologist full workup to be sure, and the echocardiogram showed very severe blockages. I ended up with a triple coronary bypass a few days later (Dec19) I had not had any other symptoms before the tightness and pressure and had a normal ECG. I am feeling much better now 7 weeks later.
Daisy - women present differently than men. We are often overlooked because our symptoms are not the same as theirs. Play it safe and get an echocardiogram or at least an angiogram to check for blockages.
Thanks for replying marie. Wow u have been through alot as well. I hope yr doing ok now. I must admit u do start questioning yrself when they say its just acid reflux and then the ecg comes back normal. I will be mentioning it again on Wednesday, especially after the advice i have been given today. Take care x
And I hope the other tests come back normal too, but you cannot be too sure when shortness of breath and tightness are together. With me, it came with the slightest exertion. Glad you will follow up to be sure.
I have experienced what you are describing and my cardiologist said no issues with heart but when my %of iron saturation was checked I was very low...hemoglobin was good. Ferritin level very high. So we are currently trying to sort things out. If you haven’t had the %of iron saturation checked recently I would ask. Mine went from 30% to 19% in four weeks. Just a thought.
