Had my first Moderna vaccine today. Called my Oncologist up before I had and he said no problem. The biggest hospital system in Colorado is UC Health which most of my providers are in. Nurse told me the hospital got much more then they expected so they pulled people over 75 from the data base randomly and I was a lucky one. Had no reaction form the shot at all not even an achy arm. Go back on 1/26 for my second one

Moderna vaccine
Hi Stevevolo,-
Sounds like a fantastic lottery win to me. I wish they would have that available here in New Jersey.

My wife and I would need to become residents in a nursing home to qualify now, and that would likely be more risky than waiting until the over 70 immune compromised are OKed to get the shot.

Steve,I got mine yesterday and the arm is a little sore today but nothing else. Feels like a typical vaccination response.

It's great that you got vaccinated, but I am disturbed because Colorado has very specific guidelines for vaccine distribution, and nowhere is there a "randomly pulling people over 75 from the database" part of that plan! High risk people are targeted for Spring, after ALL high risk health care workers, long term care facility patients/staff, Moderate Risk health care workers and responders, all home health/hospice & dental staff, and EMS, firefighters, police, correctional workers, dispatchers, etc. are done. Unless you are in Elbert County where the new highly transmissible strain has popped up; I can imagine modifying state guidelines to target that county.
I've read that there are cases of the new strain of COVID in Colorado and I wonder if the present vaccines are effective against the new strain(s).
Hi Stevevolo, hope you are doing well. Did you test level of antibodies after vaccination?
Lots of questions (I hope you don’t mind!) So how are you doing now - I presume now three months past receiving your second Moderna vaccine? Any side effects now or at any time since? Are you CLL treatment naive or have you been on treatment for a while? Have you determined your antibody response? Thanks in advance!
