I have repeated sinusitis. Well, this Covid virus has me in the habit of being health conscious. I eat healthy and avoid being around others who appear to have a cold. I wash my hands often. When I get an infection, I make a point of resting more and focus on being calm to progress a recovery. I may read, sit outside or watch an old movie. I wish you the best, Hicham.Sandra

Did you get a second opinion? Do you have an oncologist specializing in CLL? You need more help with your infections. Please review the articles available on this regarding chronic infections for further clarification. Best wishes. M.C.

The question becomes is this one sinus infection that never really clears up fully? I would ask for a culture of your sinuses to be done. That would show whether this is a bacterial or fungal infection (make sure that the doctor cultures for both) and if so, which antibiotics or anti fungals are most likely to work to clear things up.

Unfortunately its something I suffer from but tends to go to pneumonia. I was admitted 5 times between mid February and April spending almost a month in hospital. My consultant has put me on daily preventative antibiotics and twice weekly antivirals. I am a lot further down the CLL road having had both FCR and ibrutinib. Perhaps its something to discuss with your physician/consultant?

Hello Hicham, although it’s not directly related to your question, do you know what your vit D levels are? And/or do you supplement? I know you live in Morocco, but most people cover up pretty much and you might not get enough vit D? My husband (on WW) got tested and was found deficient. We have been supplementing since the summer. So far, so good... I wish you all the best

I seem to have "Chronic Rhinitis" (self-diagnosed...) extreme attacks of sneezing, mostly after a movement of cool air in the room. But it never develops into a "cold". There are reports of "Chronic Rhinitis: A Manifestation of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia " on the internet. (My hematologist does not agree with that, but I may not have insisted enough with the issue). Somehow after such "onset of cold type sneezing" I have a craving for aged cheese and after ingesting some, my system seems "settled. I wonder if it is the action of cheese bacteria on the digestive bacteria. Some cheese contains penicillin and other antibiotic bacteria. ( I adore Morocco. I knew it briefly in the "good old days" in 1960 when Tangiers was still quite "international" and the Djema el Fna in Marrakech was still a "local market".... I listen to Moroccan music sometimes on the internet...)

Moroccan textiles are getting a lot of attention in Europe. Very original! There are many medical specialists from North Africa established in the U.S. .

Hi Hicham, I sympathise with you. I also had a series of cold-like symptoms for several months: every day congestion, coughing up mucus, runny nose, headache, but no fever. Then these symptoms might subside for a week or two, then start over again.

For me, though, these symptoms emerged only after 6 months treatment with FCR. When I was on W&W (14 years), in the later stages I had different issues, mainly bacterial infections, not colds or flu.

My working theory is that my recent symptoms are due to a single virus, which is more or less active depending on how my immune system is performing. Because my immune status has been low for 8 months it is not able to completely eliminate this virus, as would happen if I was healthy. My doctor has arranged some blood tests and a PCR test for viruses, yet to be done.

Although you are at a much earlier stage of CLL, it is still likely that your B-cells and T-cells are not working properly. If so, it is possible when you get a minor infection it is difficult to eliminate. Your multiple "colds" might be from the same pathogen.

I have no idea about your other symptoms, with back and legs, but I hope your doctor will be willing to diagnose and treat you. Good luck.

Hi Benne,

How are you doing now ?

Is everything ok with your FCR?

I think you have described my situation it’s exactly what is happening!

I will see my hematologist next week to see what he will say

Anyway if you have more Info to help me you are welcome

Nice to know you !

Keep safe

Hicham, thanks for asking. FCR was not too difficult, but it does seem to suppress the immune system more than the targeted drugs like Ibrutinib and Venetoclax. I hope you have access to those if/ when the time comes for treatment, and that you have a good doctor to guide you. This forum can give extra help.Yes, I will let you know the results of my tests. Please keep me posted about your case too.

Best wishes.
