Yearly blood test results

It's been a year since my last post and I just had my blood test last week so I thought I would post an update. My lymphocytes went from 7.9 last year to 10.6 and WCC from 11.7 to 14.4, so both have increased. Not sure what this means but obviously it's not ideal to see them increasing. :( Hoping that I'll be able to keep my aviation medical and continue flying, but will have to wait and see what the oncologist says. The main positive about having this disease is that it's a constant reminder not to waste time and to live your life, appreciating every moment.

That's a negligible increase in your lymphocyte count and hence your WBC. It would be other symptoms that would be of more interest with regard to your flying, such as tiredness/fatigue, or concerns about your haemoglobin and platelet levels I would think. CLL specialists don't get too excited about lymphocyte counts under 30, particularly when they are changing so slowly.

I’m pretty sure you’ll keep flying and you’re right, we have to grab every moment, particularly with things the way they are.

All the best, jackie

Thanks for the replies, I'm feeling more positive now :) Yes I do suffer a little from fatigue however it hasn't stopped me from doing anything. Not sure if from CLL or just getting older, I'm 59 now. Anyhow you just have to make up your mind, and the body gets dragged along for the ride... :)

This is a good thought!! “The main positive about having this disease is that it's a constant reminder not to waste time and to live your life, appreciating every moment”.

yes. That’s barely creeping along. My numbers were about where yours were in 2013. Here it is 2020 and my WC is 28 and ALC is 24. All other counts normal and still no foreseeable treatment anytime soon. Your counts might be slower than mine. As long as you are feeling good and other counts are the in the normal range, don’t worry so much. I wasted a lot of time doing that. By the time you need treatment (if you ever do) the treatments will be even better and very possibly a cure.
