I am a 69 yr old male. I have CLL and Coronary Artery Disease. What could I do now to boost my immunity and my odds of survival should I become infected with Covid-19

This is a question I have asked myself and I've come to the ugly conclusion that there is very little right now that I can do. As they say in UK - "You can't fatten a pig on market day"

I should have stuck to that diet and exercise regime that I have been 'following' (hahaha) for the last 7 years since my diagnosis. It's not so funny now that I'm not as fit as I would have been had I done so and I haven't improved my chances of surviving not just COVID19 but anything else that might come along.

Every night I give myself a talking to and say tomorrow will be better but ....... I'm hopeless :(

Others might have some suggestions but I've taken to eating my mood enhancing food of choice - Hagen Daz ice cream!

Good luck, stay safe

I had a open heart quad by pass surgery 4 years ago. May I suggest my approach is "Java Chip" Hagan Daz. In November I will turn 73...it has been a good run. My wife and I always say...first one to heaven wins.

Honestly the best chance to maximise your chances during this crisis is to take whatever drastic steps are necessary to make sure you don’t catch it. That way you don’t have to worry about how your immune system will respond because it doesn’t have to. Sounds over simplistic I know but if you fully shield and either your family joins in or you stay isolated even within your own home, then you can begin to relax once you’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks. Riding this out without catching it seems to be the best option of all. It has the added bonus of also preventing you from getting a spring flu. That’s my plan.

Per Jackie's reply, exercise and a healthy diet are key. That way your body is fit and well supplied with nutritional resources to give you that important advantage should you need it. If you also realise that you should have been better prepared, don't overdo the exercise and dietary changes trying to make up for lost time ;) .

Hi I agree with Adrian and Aussie taking the right steps to prevent getting the virus is the best we can do. Exercise and a good diet is good for us too pre, during and post Coronavirus.

Stay safe
