I am new here. I have had IBS for 3 years. Now I have CLL and am on Ibrutinib, just starting my 2nd month. Has anyone experienced any problems with this? Increase in diarrhea or stomach problems. I am 95 years of age.

I think because I already had IBSD it made it worse. Thanks for response Scott. I believe 95 years is part luck, a great marriage, a wonderful family and a positive outlook. Good luck!

I take medication for other health problems and have suffered constipation. Since taking Ibrutinib I get diarrhea. My stomach is generally upset. I am now anaemic. I did not realise that this could be a sign of internal bleeding. As well as tests I now take iron tablets and the diarrhea is worse.

I hope you get sorted. If not maybe the hospital can help. Anne uk

Welcome to the forum!

You might want to try taking Imodium but talk to your doctor first. It worked for my husband but he could only take it after a certain amount of time after he took ibrutinib.

I think it is awesome you are 95 yrs old!

Thank you for the advice Mystic75. I will talk to my Doctor. By the way I consider myself 95 years young...not old!!

Welcome.

I am in the same situation, just started my 2nd month IB.

So far so good, have changed diet, do everything I can to assist treatment.

What to eat and not to eat, you will be able to check with Health unlocked and Internet.

Stay well .........

Thank you for the input. I have been on a strong diet for 3 years so I have that under control. I have no real problems with Ibrutinib so maybe I will stay lucky.

Bless your heart. I had diarrhea at first then constipation.

After seven months on Imbruvica I have experienced a positive side effect. I had IBS since a student 50 years ago. It has now gone. Anyone interested in a job lot of Immodium? The other welcome side effect is that I now have wavy hair. Other side effects are not so positive. Arthritis much worse and I am experiencing severe cramps, both night and day, and sometimes while I'm walking.

Dang - I've got all the Ibru side effects EXCEPT the wavy hair - that was one thing I was looking forward to. 😊

Very interesting. Thank you. I have noticed my IBSD has diminished over the past few weeks. Hope it keeps. A side benefit of Ibrutinib?

Ninety-five, I had uncontrollable diarrhea at times when I was on Ibrutinib. Let your doctor know about it at your next appointment or if it's really bad, let them know now. They might lower your dose or switch you to something else with less side effects.

I am 80 and have the stomach and bowel distress too on umbrivica. Oncologist said it is common when you take drugs by mouth instead of infusion. By mouth best, though, he said. He said different patients deal with it differently. I have found by eating more fiber with whole oats and such my distress is less.

The BRAT diet helped us. BREAD, RICE, APPLESAUCE, and TOAST. Stay away from carrots, nuts, spices, milk products, sauerkraut, and beans.
