Cyst-like lump on chin

Hi everyone, apologies if there have been posts about this before (searched but couldn’t find any), but is anyone suffering from cyst-like lumps on their chin? I’ve recently developed one and I’m worried that it’s going to continue to grow. I wonder if it’s related to the CLL or just a coincidence? Has anyone had such lumps removed? With thanks for any replies. Jackie

Hi Jackie

May I assume by "under the chin" you mean BEHIND the jaw bone - just above the adams apple?

IF this is the case - it may well be a lymph node.

Please get it checked by a doctor in case its due to - or associated with - something else. It is not likely to be normal.

If it is a lymph node associated with CLL - then - like may others it will remain till treatment of the CLL.

I had such a node. It felt cyst-like. Its now gone, thanks to FCR!

Because of CLL our immune systems are weakened and we are at risk of other conditions, so its important we get things checked.

I note you are in the UK - so you would take this to your GP in the first instance.

Best wishes

Thank you Jig. I’m seeing my haematologist this coming week so I will ask him if it’s a lymphnode or not.

We have lymph nodes all over the place, hundreds - any can swell up due to CLL. In fact my CLL was diagnosed due to a lymph node swelling in my elbow region - an Epitrochlear Lymph Node. Jig

If it's directly under the chin... probably submental lymph nodes. Mine enlarged when my CLL was progressing. Shrank back down to nothing when CLL was controlled.

I had a cyst below my Adams Apple it lasted about a week it got the size of 1” by 1”. I covered it with antibiotic ointment and it went away this was a year before I found out I had SLL. A pet scan never should anything in that area when I had one done a year ago. It may just be a cyst but should be checked out

Jackie,

I had a bunch of them under my chin. I was told, they were swollen lymphs. They can swell if you are having dental problems too.

Thank you for your replies everyone. As the lump is more or less on the chin (not under), I think it fits the picture of a submental node, and is all part of the CLL. I'll get it checked out on Wednesday.

Thanks again, Jackie
