I hate being a pain or sounding like a cry baby but I have been on Imbruvica for 7 weeks now and have dealt with Mouth Blisters, Aches in the fingers, thumbs and ankles along with some bruises. For the last week now I have a sharp pain under my right breast going towards my back. My doctor thought it may be the spleen but that's on the other side. It appears the Imbruvica is causing the Muscle & Bone ache in this area. I'm taking Tylenol and it helps. Going to try some CBD Cream to see if that helps. The other pains go away after 4-5 days. This is lasting longer and hurts when I cough, sneeze, yawn etc. Anyone with any suggestions. Thanks for listening

I am sorry you are having problems with ibrutinib. I have had a variety of problems too, joint pain included. I find that over time, my side effects have gotten better. I can’t say my joint pain ever reached the level you describe.
I would think you treat it like other joint pain which can include physical therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, or massage therapy. If one doesn’t work, try the other. Icing the joint might help to.
Ultimately if it gets intolerable, you have to get with your doctor to consider a dose reduction or even taking a week off ibrutinb. Taking a week off accomplishes two things, it will tell you if if ibrutinib is the problem and see if just hitting the reset button helps.
Hi Rosa. Sorry you're having so many problems with Imbruvica. Is there any chance you cracked a rib? Because that will certainly hurt when you cough, sneeze or yawn. I speak from experience. And if you have lost bone density as I have, it is possible to crack a rib with very little force or exertion. I hope that's not what it is. But I thought I would toss that idea out there. I hope you find some relief!
I can empathize with the hard and leg (knee in my case) pains although mine became less frequent after two months on Imbruvica. I found ice packs with a towel wrapped around it to be helpful. 20 minutes sessions is recommended. I also use the aspirin based Salonpas pain patches. I know that aspirin is contraindicated for low platelets but I cannot detect any effects on my monthly blood labs. Both work gradually. For mouth sores I use “magic mouthwash” prescribed by my oncologist. Works great.
