Want to try calquence because of joint and muscle pain on Imbruvica. Was told I would have to stop Prilosec. I tried to stop it previously and was miserable. Anyone found something effective for the pain of imbruvica?

Imbruvica muscle and joint pain
Omeprazole, sold under the brand names Prilosec and Losec, is a proton pump inhibitor, prescribed for heartburn/GERD. It works by reducing stomach acidity, which Acalabrutinib/Calquence needs for proper absorption. Famotidine may work sufficiently well for you as it doesn't reduce acidity as much so Calquence can still be absorbed.
Neil
thanks - need to talk to gastro dr. about getting off prilosec successfully and on to something else.
Thank you, Neil. I have severe GERD, have been on everything at one time or another. Most recently took Famotidine 20mg twice a day. However, Gerd got worsee again so back on Dexilant containing dexlansoprasole in enteric coated granules - I also have the generic of it. So obviously another similar product. GI “people want to do endoscopy for Barrett’s check but I’m not there yet. On Ibrutinib low dose for CLL. GI MD doesn’t have magic bullet med! Anyone know more please let us know.
Percocet
My doctor gave me prednisone which really helped, but it isn't something most folks want to be on long term.
Zanubrutinib, also known as Brukinsa Might be an option for you. I am on it now. It creates less side effects, less joint and muscle pain.
Joint and muscle pain on Imbruvica might be reduced by drinking much more water daily and taking Advil.
Also there’s some evidence believe it or not the Claritin reduces the pain associated with these medications. Someone mentioned it here a few days ago and I’ve been try and believe it or not it seems to be working for me.
Will try that!
This is from Neulasta brochure
Neulasta helps the body make more white blood cells by stimulating the immune system, which also creates histamines. So your doctor also may recommend an antihistamine such as Claritin (chemical name: loratadine) – NOT Claritin-D – to ease bone pain caused by Neulasta.
My pain and inflammation was so bad on Imbruveca when I started 4/1/2018, that I had to reduce to only one 140mg pill. This has worked well for me as far as my blood numbers. I would still get transient inflammation and pain a few times per week which was still quite painful but not horrendous like on 3 pills which sent me to the ER unable to move any limbs.
I have also been fighting the diabetic gene in my family my whole life. Strangely my regular doctor started me on Victoza injection as a means to try to regulate insulin and stay out of the diabetic range. The Victoza resolved 95% or more of the inflammation. My Oncologist said it likely has anti-inflammatory properties. So although you likely wouldn't get prescribed that for inflammation only, it was a godsend for me.
