Thai massage

I recently took a series of Thai massages and part of the massage resulted in pressure being applied to areas on and or close to my lymph glands. I’m wondering if massage like this helps to either drain the gland or help?

I’ll venture a guess. I do not think a massage would drain a Cll laden lymph gland. I don’t even know what would drain.

But I do think a therapeutic massage could help relieve pain associated with a swollen node. If the surrounding tissue is inflamed or sensitive, I think a massage would give relief to the area as well as provide relief from a mental standpoint, relaxing the anxiety that sometimes accompanies swollen nodes.

I am not much on supplements and some so called natural remedies. I am a big believer in massage, relaxation therapy and meditation. They don’t cure or treat Cll, but they do help us cope with it.

I know there’s a very specialized massage technique for helping with lymphadema but it’s a completely separate training program and involves tapping and moving in certain directions. (That’s my layman’s attempt to explain something I know nothing about)

You’re right Jemorgen that massage is to move lymph fluid from an affected limb where, if allowed to accumulate, causes massive swelling and pain. Compression wear is also used in those circumstances.

Most good massage therapists will refer cancer patients too a therapist trained specifically to work with different cancer related issues. This is something to discuss with your doctor.

A cold ending to a shower will have a limited draining effect on lymph nodes.
