Hi just checking is it ok to have a de stress massage?

My niece has booked a spa away day for us all and you can have facial and a massage. Some say it’s ok and others say no, it’s a bit confusing.

I have CLL no treatment and been on watch and wait since 2015.

Appreciate any advice, thank you.

Go for it. There is no evidence to suggest that a massage can be detrimental to CLL.

If someone had enlarged and tender surface lymph nodes, then it could be uncomfortable, but otherwise ..............

I've had numerous massages over my 15 years of CLL. Absolutely not a problem.

Definitely fine unless you have large prominant nodes. I get facials all the time. Enjoy

I have enlarged lymph nodes in my neck and have had a number of sports massages without any side effects - I have just made them known (no need really!) to the masseur.

One consideration to me was the increased risk of Covid from prolonged presence next to another person.

Having said that, I accepted the risk and have had 2 massages during the pandemic with a problem.

Enjoy your day out :-)

I asked my haematologist, and he said yes, and put it in writing as well; many practitioners won't massage people with certain cancers without written permission. It is now mostly acceptable to haematologists, but best to be certain. The masseuse shouldn't massage over any swollen lymph glands.

Hi, Lymphatic drainage is a form of mild massage that helps transfer excess fluid from a swollen region to an area where the lymph nodes are functioning normally. A massage, when done correctly, can assist in everything from stress to any serious diseases. I personally enjoy having massages because they help me relax and relieve tension, and my massage therapist ( dynamicphysiotherapy.ca/ser... )has a particular ability for doing so.

I enjoy massage too, but don't really need lymphatic drainage, I know some people who find that really helps them, especially breast cancer patients.

I've been on W&W since April 2018, and I regularly once a month go for a Massage. It hasn't affected me negatively.
