Does anyone know why the I+R arm of theFlair trial is closed to recruitment? I see from the website that the other 3 arms are still there. Are there any other changes expected? I’m asking on behalf of my partner who has been on W&W for 10 years but is close to treatment. Given recent news from the US, obvs would prefer an ibrutinib arm but it’s a throw of the dice.
Thanks!

I’ve just signed up for this Trial and haven’t been made aware of any further changes.
I appreciate the concerns about the randomisation but in the U.K., FCR would be offered first line anyway so it increases the chances by 3-1 with more careful monitoring.
Yes I know it’s not a recent change Stuart. I was responding to Hm’s question, ‘Are there any other changes expected’. I think the concern was possibly losing another arm of the trial and I wanted to make it clear I’d heard nothing about any further changes. There’s still the 3 arms, FCR, Ibrutinib and I&V.
I wasn’t aiming that at you I was just generalising it for anybody new reading.... you’d probably know more than most about the arms having just had your appointment...
Hopefully you get the golden ticket... when do you hear back about the decision..
I bet you’re glad to be finally getting that out the way... good luck I hope it goes well for you...
And good luck moving forward with the trial.... as you know from others accounts it’s very overwhelming in the first couple of months with all the checks and learning curves but once your adjusted it’ll just become part of a new routine minus a lot of the lumps and bumps.. but you’ll do fine and hopefully he back in good stead within six months or more..
I am on Flair and was one of the last few to get Ibritnib and rituximab. As Lewis said it has reached its quota.
I believe recent research is suggesting that Ibritnib alone is as potent as combining it with rituximab, which suggests it is not necessary to have both drugs.
I am on Flair, Ibrutinib only and all of my bloods were back in normal range within 12 months. I have been lucky enough not to have many side effects and lead a pretty normal busy life.
Hi, I was told by Professor Hillmen that there were no perceived benefits from this arm (which was more expensive and time consuming to administer) so they had decided to concentrate on the other three arms. I asked him because it was withdrawn just before I started on the flair trial. He made no mention of the quota being full or of any other imminent changes.
