Not exactly CLL related but have been offered an HA injection to treat severe ankle pain associated with adjacent joint to my ankle fusion. I am on Ibrutinib so will I need to take a pause for this and also if this is contra indicated with the IB? Thanks

HA (hyaluronic acid) injection - anyone?
Better ask your CLL Dr. There is a list a meds contraindicated on the inserts with Ibrutinib and most meds, however, I'd bet there has been a lot of knowledge gained by cliniicians re: what works and what can interfere since the inserts were printed.
And, we are all different. If you haven't had that particular treatment for your ankle, what are the possible side effects of it without having CLL and being on Ibrutinib? Better to ask and get the Dr. alerted for any possibilities.
I hope you do find it is okay and can get relief from your pain, which must be debilitating.
Hello Redlion

I’m just pondering the same issue about HA injection in knee? What was your advice re this?
Hi Shazzy, Yes I had this procedure in May on my ankle without problems. I walked in and walked out a couple of hours later. The procedure itself involved 4 or 5 injections after a light local anesthetic, guided by x-ray imaging, although I have to say that despite this I did feel the injections quite strongly at the time (gritted teeth). As for the effects, it has been very successful. I got relief straight away although in the following 3-5 days there was a little swelling and pain due to the injections. Since then it has continued to give relief and if my experience is anything to go by I would not hesitate to recommend it. I believe that the benefit will gradually wear off over time but so far I not encountered this but the procedure can be repeated if does. Good luck.
