HIGH URIC ACID

Close to 2 months on Imbruvica. Now up to 196k. Blood count shows Uric acid up to 7.2. Taking Allopurinol 100 mg. Isn't this supposed to keep that acid down? OMG - What next to expect? Am I close to "peak" numbers yet?

You are taking the lowest dosage of Allopurinol. If your doctor believes you need a higher dosage based on your medical history and clinical response, he/she can increase your dosage of Allopurinol. I would recommend discussing your concerns with your specialist to help you understand the plan to address this.

Agreed, I started at 100 and was bumped up to 300mg daily.

I was started on Allopurinol 300 mg daily 3 days prior to starting Venetoclax and continued for six weeks during my dosage ramp up. No side effects and uric acid always normal. Dosage will be lower if the patient has kidney disease and also dosage depends on the condition it is being used for.

Saw Doc yesterday and asked if I will be having this increased and he said "no". Just drink, drink, drink water. Gurggle, gurggle, gurggle. And I can't swim either.

Watching these numbers month in and out is stressful. My numbers were fast approaching the 300s when they finally started to drop on Ibrutinib. I'm at now at 95 and lymphocytes also finally dropping after 9 months on the drug - sometimes a takes a bit to kick in I guess. It can plateau too for a month or so as mine did. As long as other symptoms are subsiding try and be patient with the math - it will follow.

Thanks SunnyCa. You give me hope. Just found out yesterday I went from 196k to 180k. Have you heard that vit. B12 helps?

I had not heard that. I take biotin for my thin and brittle fingernail issue. What does B 12 help with?

Try increasing your hydration levels... you need to flush those dead B cells and their chemical contents... 🚽🚽🚽

I started on 300mg daily as well and did not have any problems. I also had non-bulky disease and went from 160 to 13.2 in 2 1/2 months on Ibrutinib.....

Wonderful. Congrats on the low numbers. I just found out yesterday I went from 196k to 180k. The fatigue, depression, anxiety, etc, etc, is sometimes hard to fight, but not giving up. Thanks for info and good luck to you.
