Im interested in how those with CLL are affording expensive cancer drugs. Even with insurance the cost of cancer could wipe out a persons life saving. Thankfully Im still W&W

Drug Costs
Minda, I’m able to afford it because I have a grant that covers my insurance deductible. These grants are based on financial need and the best way to find out if you qualify is to speak to the specialty pharmacy that ships your meds. You can also speak to the financial department at your oncologist office. Hope this helps you.
Even on W&W, combined with the fatigue and reduced work I am currently looking for a nice home under a bridge...or maybe in a dark alley made of cardboard somewhere....
Thsnk you!
Let me know what you find. May have to do the same...................
You can be my roomie and we can split the cost...I *might* be able to afford that
😀
We are very luck in the U.K. I am over 60 so my drugs are free the nhs is a godsend, I have no idea how those that have to pay cope as I believe Ibrutinib in the U.K. is about £50.00 a tablet and a months course of veneteclax is over £4000,00 it doesn’t bare thinking about as if we haven’t enough to worry about
Drug trial for Ibrutinib + Venetoclax - Abbvie provides the drugs free and picks up all costs including travel and accommodation. I've even got enough frequent flyer points from this to go for another ski holiday in Japan!
If I wasn't on a trial, I'd be restricted to whatever is available on our Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (Govt subsidised drugs in Australia)

Some pharmaceutical companies have a compassionate assistance program to help patients pay for drugs. If you are in the USA, your specialists office may have information and be able to assist with the application process.
Some companies in Canada will also assist patients needing expensive drugs that are not necessarily used for CLL.
May be worth looking into when you are requiring treatment, which I hope is very far off in the future for you.
All the best,
Sandy Beaches
I too worry about this a lot! Looking up the costs of these drugs is terrifying. I just got Medicare and need to get a supplement. Thought maybe a clinical trial might be the answer when the time for treatment comes - only to learn that Medicare will not cover the cost of drugs in clinical trials. Terrible to think I might just have to die if things get bad. Even if I sold my home, it wouldn't cover these kinds of costs. I guess one can afford to survive if you're a millionaire - otherwise - kaput!!!
