Alissa I have just seen this before I headed off to bed! I am so sorry for you! I have spent many an hour in what we call A & E and it's no fun. Thinking of you and sending you lots and lots of prayers.

Liss,

I am so sorry to hear this. I can honestly tell you if my choice was 72 hours in the hospital or missing a beach vacation...if I was physically able to stand and walk out of the hospital I will be on my beach vacation...can spend a few days in the hospital when I get back....if things are worse, well I will be in the hospital won't I :)

Please take care of yourself Liss.

Whilst your comment may have been tongue in cheek because there really is no choice, it’s worth just pointing out that nuetropenic sepsis can be a killer if not treated!

72 hours or more in hospital against never recovering is a no brainer!

It was about half and half toungue in cheek ....mostly cause I would rather be anywhere other than a hospital. And Beach vacation or Hospital....yeah, it would have to be something really serious...like I would not be coming back from that beach vacation to overcome my horror of hospitals ...

Liss,

don't listen to me...stay at the hospital.....everyone knows I don't understand or know anything....cause I never did :)

Sorry to hear this. That temperature is higher than required to visit ER/A&E - -but the staff have to understand our susceptibility with CLL.

Now, Luckyliss, you take care - I trust you got in good and quick? That holiday can be another time! Hopefully this will pass quickly, with antibiotics, and you will be home before you know it. Drink plenty of fluids - or maybe they put you on IV ABX with saline saving you some drinking?

Thinking of you.

Do let us know how you are doing once you are settled into the Hotel Hospital. Too bad about the beach vacation but the beach will be there when your neutrophils rise to a safer level, and any danger for you has passed.

Make sure you are an advocate for your own safety - people should wash their hands before coming into your room or touching you or your iv, etc. And hopefully they will be able to put you in an isolation room or a room by yourself at least.

Perhaps a family member can put up a poster of a beach scene if allowed to give you something to look forward to.

All the best,

Sandy Beaches

ps I will go and personally build you a sand castle on my favourite beach........

Agh! Always something! Good that you checked your temp. And good that your doctor is being proactive! As Sandy Beaches said, don't be afraid to be an advocate for your safety. If you don't actually see staff wash their hands, put on gloves, tuck in scarves or ties (sometinig that was called to my attention as important ) say something!

Once you are settled, if you need company on line, or on the phone, let me know. I will check in periodically for updates and / or PMs (chats).

You are in the right place and getting the treatment you need. this is a perfect reminder that even not in treatment, we should be taking our temperature several times a day when there is even a small chance that we could be neutropenic.

Good Luck Luckyliss !

You are In my thoughts, I know how you feel. In October 2016 my neutrophils were 0 and platelets were 6 I was admitted to hospital and had to cancel a cruise. We know our health comes first but can't help feeling disappointed at missing our holiday. Please keep us updated.

Best wishes

Missed my winter in Florida this year. Bummer.....but on hindsight it was probably a blessing because Flu and other illnesses seemed to be rampant in Florida this past season. Lots of our friends were very ill. I feel that I missed a bullet :-)
