AF and Ibrutinib.

Does anyone know of studies about lower doses of Ibrutinib in the U.K. to prevent AF and bleeding

Thanks

Hi unun, do you perhaps mean Atrial fibrillation because auricular relates to the ear?

You’ll notice related posts to this question to the right of the screen unun. Others with experience of this issue will be along to advise I’m sure. I have no personal experience of using Ibrutinib however I’d urge you not to reduce the dosage without medical advice.

I’ve edited your post to the correct heading.

Here is the current drug label, see sections, 5.1, 5.4 and dose reduction section 2.3

I suffered from preexisting A.fib and was on Xarelto while on Imbruvica (ibrutinib), and experience Grade 4 bleeds, only lasted on it 3 months... there was no dose reducing in the early days...

Its a double edge sword... thin the blood to prevent stroke and then the bleeding starts...

They have generalized the dose reductions which I really do not like, it used to be more detailed and specific to each adverse event...

I started with 3 capsules of ibrutinib and within four months had to stop because of side effects. My oncologist would not reduce the dosage at that time, said it wouldn't be effective at a lower dose. He later changed his mind and dropped the dose to 1 capsule per day. With the onset of afib and flutter he drop it to 1 capsule every other day. I still experienced afib and he took me off completely. I meet with him tomorrow to discuss a new chemo plan.

I have been taking 1 capsule daily (140mg) due to severe joint pain and swelling on higher doses.. still dealing with it but now manageable with prednisone.. 140 mg is effective thus far..

I've been on ibrutinib with obinutuzumab for six months now and thought I was doing great. After first spiking, my numbers dropped quickly into the normal range and I was feeling good. Then the afib happened. I've been hospitalized 3 days so far with no end in sight with an irregular heart rate as high as 170. I'd had a few days of rapid heart rate, dizziness, fatigue and agitation before I went to the emergency room. No answers yet.
