Hello everyone...do those of us with a bloated tummy have an aching feeling on the upper left side where the spleen is and/or an aching feeling on the upper right side where the liver is? I have had sinusitis and bronchitis with a gut wrenching cough for 4 months. The left side has been aching off and on for several months but the right side seems fairly new. I'm wondering if the right sided discomfort could be sore abdominal muscles from the cough? I know I probably need a CT scan of the abdomen but I'm scared to death to get one. I eat a small bowl of Bran cereal in the evening, eat oatmeal for breakfast and take a tablespoon of Citracel to stay regular as I'm on Dexilant for GERD. Another new thing I'm taking 2 tablespoons of pureed asparagus in the morning and evening due to something I read about it helping with CLL A previous CT of the abdomen shows my spleen to be diffusely enlarged but didn't say anything about my liver. My last labs 3 weeks ago have my ALT & AST to be normal but the LFDH was high...369
Bloated Belly/Pain: Hello everyone...do those of... - CLL Support
Bloated Belly/Pain
An ongoing cough can certainly get one's abs. in shape, but if the pain on the right is new, not something that developed along with the cough, I would get it checked for your own peace of mind. Guessing the worst, or coming up with 7 or 8 possibilities thanks to Dr. Google, is usually worse than whatever is really causing the symptom.
Don’t be scared to have a scan done, I know it’s difficult, with the worry that more bad news will be discovered, but my attitude is that by not having the scan doesn’t make the problem go away, and you will always have the worry and stress banging away in your head. I had similar stomach problems and had a ct scan and am currently awaiting the results, so please be brave and find out what’s going on, your far stronger than you think you are and will cope with the outcome whatever it may be.Good luck.
Thanks ...will keep it in mind....maybe I'll have to make a trip to my pulmonologist
I've got pain under my right right rib at the front. Ultrasound and CT said there was a hemangioma (knot of blood vessels, basically) that might be the cause, but nothing else. Definitely get it checked out. No reason to add worry to the mix.
Needless to say everything needs to be reported to our doctors, especially a long lasting cough, but I just wanted to give my "two cents" on the abdominal pain, which has been very present in my life for a while now and am currently checking with Gastro and IBS has come up several times and so while high fiber is recommended for most, in IBS patients not so much. I love oatmeal for example, and even though is soluble fiber, i cannot seem to take it every day cause rather than helping me, it seems to irritate me.
But again, have all that assessed by professionals.
Best wishes.
Thanks...I have IBS with constipation but am doing fine with a tablespoon of Citracel with a tablespoon of olive oil in it, 72 to 84 ozs of filtered water and a small bowl of Bran Buds a couple hours before bed and, I have one diverticuli in my sigmoid colon
If may ask....has the pain on both sides of your abdomen gotten any better?
The IBS -C is better but my belly is still bloated because of my enlarged spleen which sometimes causes aching and my belly is bloated because of all the enlarged lymph nodes. Maybe you need to go easy on the fiber...start slow but if you run a fever and have pain, nausez, vomiting etc go to an emergency room to rule out appendicitis but then we need to stay away from crowds and sick people....let us know how you are doing.
Hugs,
Dianne
I'm doing ok but was wondering about you. You said your ibs-c is better..so, are you seeing a Gastro for that? I was under the impression that people with ibs need to be on almost no fiber. I say that because I've been having some digestive issues of my own and thinking maybe I needed fiber, but I would take psyllium husk and i would get very bloated and my belly would portrude. And so, could the fiber you're consuming be making you bloated? That was my situation but in addition to that I was having some bacteria overgrowth, (which also cause bloating and abdominal pain), so I finally saw a Gastro and specifically requested a SIBO test and it turned out positive! Anyway, just kind of an fyi, in case you might want to look into any of this with your Gastro...or maybe you already have?.
Anyway...Best Regards.
