Visual and functional changes on the site

Hi everyone,

Health Unlocked has just implemented a new layout in the navigation bar on top of the page.

Messages and notifications have switched places and there are some other changes as well, for example the Help button disappeared from the main menu (but you can access it from under your username/avatar).

HU encourages people to give them feedback in the announcement they just made, which reads as follows:

"We have made some improvements to the bar at the top of your screen, which links to other areas of the site and takes you from one page of the website to another section.

It is now simpler and clearer than ever before.

By clicking on the newly updated 'my hub' tab at the top of the page, you will find a list of communities, can easily click to browse other communities, and see other tools and resources available across the site.

Happy browsing!

Like it, or hate it, or have suggestions on how to make it even better? If so, we want to know, please email support@healthunlocked.com with any feedback"

What is CLL?

Newdawn profile image
NewdawnAdministrator in reply toPNIAuthor60

It stands for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia which is a cancer of the blood.

This question doesn’t really relate to the subject matter however which is about layout and functional changes to the site.

Do you have reason to want further information on CLL PNIAuthor?

Read Neil's information and did not understand what the initials stood for so I asked.

I like the changes... just wish the notification drop down menu would scroll.

Anyone wishing to check their past posts/replies can now access them as follows:

On a desktop, click on your avatar and select Profile

On a smartphone/tablet, click on your avatar, then click on your avatar that appears below on the left.

Hi Neil,

I really like the feature to see past posts and replies. That is something I struggled with in the past.

However, I'm finding it a challenge to create new posts. It formerly was easy from the newsfeed, but now is hidden.

I just found it- called "What's on your mind" - that will take getting accustomed to.

I just came to the site and got a pop up - which community do I want to post to. I came to read, not to post. Also I now have to go to my HUB to get to my sites. They are no longer at the top of the page in the middle. Wonder what else we will find out about this new format. So far I really don't like it. I'm wondering if people on other HU sites have complained about the old format. If it ain't broke, it's usually best to leave well enough alone.

Messages has become CHAT? Notifications still not labelled?

Maybe I am too old to have automatic current online symbology be my thing? I do like words.

Do we need Home in two places--navigation bar and above Posts?

I really don't understand the HOME page that suggests what/who might be of interest to me and suggests I click on Profile. And, profiles have become nothing more than names and date entered.

For instance, why would I be interested in a profile that has never had any posts? or one that has been made private?

Not keen on the advertisements that now cut in!

Agree with Newdawn about the ads. Very annoying. I think moving help is a major mistake. It should be back where it was and easy to find. Notifications is still not labeled. There needs to be an explanation of what it means to follow a person or a post.

I agree... all icons need labels...

Also I would like to see locked 🔐 or unlocked 🔓icons on the News feed.. now relabled Home....

Adding tags to first posts would certainly help searches... this is important for video only threads... they often have no tags

Anyone know where they put members and the option to look at posts from a specific member. Putting the name in the search box gave me posts that referenced the member, but not his posts. Now, like Facebook, they do tell me what I might be interested in at the top of the page - very old posts that I have no interest in. AGH!!! Can't find the post I want.

You can still read someone's previous posts and replies by clicking on their username adjacent to their post. Still trying to find the member search :(

Members search can be found from each community's home page (it hasn't changed!)

- On a smartphone/tablet,"More">"Followers" then there is a search bar "Find a member"

- On a desktop, via My hub, go to the community home page and then select Followers to get to the "Find a member" search bar

With thanks to Nathalie99

AussieNeil this is a wonderful resource and we are grateful for it. I submit studies to the HealthUnlocked email address for distribution to our members. I do not know whether they are received or provided to our members. How should I be sending those in?

Island 75. forgive me bothering you Neil but you kindly replied to "My Story"roughly 10 days ago. I am totally lost. I love reading other peoples posts and can reply, but do not know how I send new posts.? Also you questioned anothere member re:-unrestricted posts. I believed in setting up I had chosen to remain in the community, but am getting replies from all over the world. I started Ibrutnib yesterday and have questions to ask. Afraid at 87yrs learning new tricks is a challenge, but am eager to learn.

Hope you are doing well, kind wishes B.

Hi B,

Writing your own post is just an extension of replying, which you've already successfully done. This site has extensive Help page support, which includes the following article on how to write a post: support.healthunlocked.com/...

Take particular note of the section on how to set who can view your post, because it determines whether replies can be seen by anyone on the internet, or only members of this HealthUnlocked community.

The full Help section is available here: support.healthunlocked.com (You can also reach it by selecting your avatar at the right of your screen and selecting '? Help').

There are lots of posts on Ibrutinib, with many on this promising treatment. You can read earlier contributions here: healthunlocked.com/search/i...

This is an international CLL Support forum, with the parent CLL Support Association charity based in the UK. We are one of over 700 support communities on HealthUnlocked. If you followed another community (easily done), you'll be receiving email notifications of posts in other communities. Let me know if this is happening and I'll explain how to un-follow other communities that aren't of continuing interest.

I'll look forward to your first post :)

Neil
