Ibrutinib doing its job well

It's been a couple of months since I last posted and all is going well. WBC is coming down nicely and platelets, haemoglobin etc all in the healthy range.

Joint pain is less often and I know that it will pass within a couple of days. Picking up on my exercise walking a local reservoir at pace (7.5k in 70 minutes) and am rejoining the ladies running group with the aim of completing a 5k Santa run in December.

Have also taken redundancy to be stress free ahead of the stem cell transplant which I am hoping will be early 2018.

Life is really good ATM !

Hi KAS8 ....sorry for coming out of left field with my clueless question: I was following your posts and somehow I seem to be missing the reason for your cell transplant? Reason I ask is because I'm also on Ibrutinib and thought that as long as I'm doing well on it, we wouldn't need to switch treatment for the time being? Anyway, again pls pardon my cluelessness.

Hi Que-sera-sera.

I have P53 depletion which means that Ibritinin will not work long term. This means that I am eligible for the transplant with Ibrutinin used to bring the WBC down to an acceptable level prior to the transplant.

Oh....I see! Thank you so much for the information. I have to confess I'm one of those people who sometimes wants to know and sometimes wants to "look the other way" cause there's so much involved with this and all cancers. On the positive side; Thank God for the tools now available to us all in helping us fight "this thing". So Best of wishes to you KAS8 and hope great news will continue in your journey!

With this disease I'm learning there are a lot of ups and downs, so hang in there; this too shall pass!
