Poo transplants beyond the yuck factor: what works, what doesn’t and what we still don’t know

A just published study of collated and analysed results from earlier studies found poo transplants are better at treating Clostridium difficile (C-diff) caused diarrhoea than an antibiotic or placebo.

The study findings are in line with recent European advice strongly encouraging setting up centres specialising in poo transplants to treat C. difficile diarrhoea. Nadeem O. Kaakoush, Senior research fellow and Hazel Mitchell, Professor, School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, UNSW, coauthored the article referenced below with Professor Thomas J.
