Received my first infusion rituximab and ibrutinib tablets 3 weeks ago ....my bloods just before treatment was ...WBC....287,000 PLTS....165 AND HB ...139 .....JUST HAD BLOODS TAKEN TODAY ....WBC ...was 226,000 down by 61,000 , PLTS 106 AND HB 140 .....Happy with the WBC going down I know this can increases when first treated ...my lymph nodes in neck and groin disappeared but a little alarmed with the platelet , i know at the moment its at a safe level but just before treatment never had a issue with platelets ....consultant said this was due to the ibrutinib and will keep an eye on it but not particularly concerned at the moment ......just wondered if it usually levels off after a while with the ibrutinib ....

I'm on Ibrutinib without rituximab - for 7 months now - and my platelets and hemoglobin have finally improved and are on a better trajectory. Though still hemoglobin is borderline - it's due to the drug. My WBC is going down slowly - oncologist said the numbers can remain flat at times and can ebb and flow a bit and not to worry. The fact that you are on rituximab you should see your bone marrow empty faster I believe.

Hi Stewie, My platelet count increased to 100 after about 6 weeks on BGB-3111 and has plateaued there for the last 5 months. BGB-3111 is a BTK inhibitor like ibrutinib. A low platelet count is one of foremost side effects of ibruinib (rxlist.com/imbruvica-side-e....

A platelet count of 100 is easy to live with. I barely notice it. I found it was not until my platelets went below 50 that I started to bruise, although it is possible that others will respond differently.
