Had my first visit to haematologist today glad it's done, stage a - so far so good. Blood taken and xray done scan tbc and future appointment in four months and that was about it really. Letter to follow with updates so watching and waiting. Happy weekend to everyone.

Sounding good Denyer. A 4 month interval suggests all is looking stable. I'm intrigued as to why an X-Ray would be done however unless there's a specific issue. That's not usual procedure at first consult but presumably he had his reasons. Sounds like a CT scan is following which again isn't necessarily recommended at diagnosis but I found it reassuring to establish a baseline.

My advice would be to be judicious in allowing scans involving radiation unless absolutely necessary due to the risks of secondary cancers. I'd only agree to another CT scan if it was seen as a vital diagnostic tool and other indicators as to the need were present. It simply involves asking the doctor why he feels it's vital (and sometimes they are).

Glad it went well.

Thanks it was a she by the way. I think she's just covering all the goalposts which I'm pleased with after having waited so long for a diagnosis.

Good to get that first appointment out of the way. I felt more relaxed after that. Glad it went well.
