This new film talks about the volunteer peer advocacy scheme set up by OPAAL and Macmillan to support older people affected by cancer. The average age of CLL diagnosis is 72.
This is intended to give a flavour of the programme, demonstrating the difference independent advocacy makes for older people affected by cancer.

Many of you may remember last year Kath Parson CEO of The Older Peoples Advocacy Alliance (OPAAL) joined us at our Cambridge CLL meeting and added her professional perspective to those of CLL patient advocates "The panel strongly encouraged as many people living with CLL as possible to improve outcomes and raise awareness of the disease by getting involved in advocating for themselves and others.” You can read more about OPAAL and Kath's visit to the Cambridge CLLSA meeting here opaalcopa.org.uk/2014/07/16...
