Hello, my daughter is recovering from cholangitis. She had her kasai procedure; three months ago. Everything went well, her bilirubin was within normal range. Now the jaundice is coming back back. Her bilirubin and liver test keeps going up. Any similar experience or advice will be very helpful.

Hi Hope Faith sorry to hear your daughter has cholangitis. My son is 10 months BA Kasai only and has had cholangitis. We caught it early so his bilirubin didn't rise but his LFTs did. It took a while for these to return to normal. Has your daughter had iv antibiotics?

Xx

Hi Ktleesond, I'm glad your son is doing well and her bilirubin did not rise. Our daughter bilirubin went up to 3.8. yes little one was on iv amoxicillin for 4 days, then she was switched to oral for three days. We just finished her last dosage yesterday.

We use different measurements for bilirubin here so I'm not sure how that compares but we had 2 weeks of iv antibiotics It sounds like the doctors aren't concerned if they have given you oral antibiotics. I hope that the jaundice clears now the infection is gone xx

Hello, my son had his kasai at 8 weeks old. Had 13 seperate hospitalizations for cholangitis his first 2 years of life. Had another bout at 7 yrs old and just recently at 17 yrs. He is 18 and is doing well. He is 6 ft tall, is graduating hs in may with an associates degree. He also co-ops during the week. This child is determined to soar to the highest! Hang in there. Take 1 day at a time. My faith in god is what has got us through it all. God bless your family.
