3 months after kasai

I’ve heard from many that liver enzymes can take some time to go down. Even if the Kasai is successful it can take months. I know a 35 year old man who’s living a normal life after Kasai (no transplant, no medication, no complications after the procedure) and his parent told me it took him almost 1 year to get a somewhat normal liver numbers (ast/alt, ggt). I would keep asking questions to my doctors about the lab numbers and if anything worries them. I hope your son gets better soon.
Thank you very much for your words cause to give me strength .. Thank you for your support
My doctor said it will take three months. 25 days aftr my daughters kasai. Total billi decreased frm 12 to 8.9
Direct bili for 10 to 8
Alkaline phosphates same 1187
Gamma GT increased frm 332 to 800
ALT sgpt decreased frm 187 to 35
AST SGOT decreased frm 123 to 34
I see that your daughter 's things are very good. I wish of God her wellness. My son now dropped bilirubin to 0.1 Thank God .. But ast and alt were until last month 189 and I found them this time 298 i do not understand the reason ..
whats the stool color ?
Hi, I don’t know the answer to your question, but I do know that worrying your self into a state won’t help, I did that.
Breath, breath and breath again.
The best place to get answers is to ask your specialists, make a list of all the thing you are worrying about and make a phone call.
Whilst worrying you are waisting energy and you may need it later.
Try to find 3 positive things to focus on and when your mind wonder to darker points remind your self of the 3 things.
They may be 3 really small things depending on how poorly your child is, did they smile today? Did they laugh today? Are they happy?
It’s hard, I know, but being positive is the best way to get through tough times.
Sending you love and strength.
- Thank you for your support. I ask God to give you the happiness you give to people. In fact I can not describe what I feel. I do not find meaning for life. Tears come down from my heart before the eyes.. ask for help from God
Your meaning for life is to love, support and be strong for your child.
Try and find some one you can talk to, get it all out.
Focus all your energy on today, don’t think or worry about tomorrow, because you don’t know what tomorrow holds.
Time traveling is not helpful in either a positive or negative way.
Just deal with today.
Hi, how is your son doing now after 3 years? My son diagnosed with BA at 8 weeks old and had Kasai at 9,5 weeks old and we discharged hospital 7 days post surgery. When we discharged hospital his Bilirubin level were 11.5 ( not sure if it was Direct or total as we didn’t have any idea of what is Direct and Total bilirubin) and at 2 weeks post surgery did another blood test which Dr says his bilirubins were same level as when we he discharged hospital… next week we will have 3rd blood test post surgery which is 1,5 months post surgery….however about 3 weeks post surgery his jaundice started to clear dramatically and his eyes white became much less yellow now so I’m very curious about next weeks blood test results…I’m so curious about how your son doing post kasai till now and hope he is doing well❤️
Hi, Hope your son is doing great now.. My Son undergone Kasai at his 81st day. Initially, his direct bilirubin while surgery was around 13 and now after 6weeks direct bilirunin came down to 5.5, but GGT, AST, ALT are increasing with sometimes yellow pigmented and pale stool.. May I know how much time it took for your son to get Bili and LFT normal? and specific diet chart for feeding mom.. Thanks
There is no definite pattern and generally Bilirubin and liver enzymes should normalize in three months. There can be mild elevation of liver enzymes post kasai. Proper assessment by a Pediatric Hepatologist is needed.
