Morning to you.I too have inherited high cholesterol & have tried possibly every drug available for lowering cholesterol since my thirties (I'm now 73) Like you - I cannot tolerate statins, as they were causing muscle damage. Roll the click forward (I won't bore you with history) & having tests for carrying the gene, an Endocrinologist finally agreed to put me on Nustendi, after being earlier refused it, as I was 'too old' & it's very expensive !
I've not experienced any obvious side effects - I've been on it now for about 3 years & my cholesterol sits just under 6, which is extremely good for me.
I am constantly clearing my throat, as I have dry mouth, but it's not a side effect.
I hope this information helps you.
I wish you well & hope you take time out for yourself to relax & read a nice book to transport you to another world for an hour or so.
I too suffered side effects from statins, firstly I came out in a rash and then I lost the use of my arms so was told not to take them but because my cholesterol was 8, my cousin persuaded me to start by taking one 5mg tablet a week and very gradually build them up from there. This I did and I now take a 10mg tablet every day. My cholesterol is down to 4.4. I have a 50% blockage in my leg and also a very small abdominal aneurysm of the aorta so it is important that I keep cholesterol at the lower end of the scale. Hope this helps.
