statins

Doc wants me to start statins and I’ve always been very reluctant due to a bad reaction but recently had a call from the Pharmacist for a review and she said I could take one statin once a week and it would still help, not everyday which is usual! Has anyone else been given this advice and is it a thing because this could potentially be life changing??

I'm doing just that after having a bad reaction to statins. The doctor took me off them but after talking to my cousin who also could not tolerate statins, she started by taking one tablet a week. It worked for her and she is now taking them daily. So far, I've taken one tablet every Saturday and not experienced any problems.

My mother and sister both take them and occasionally their cholesterol levels go to low or pains become too much they drop the dose to one or two pills a week instead of daily.

Would you mind letting me know which statin you take weekly?

Yes certainly, I have to pick up from pharmacy first as haven’t started yet but will get back to you👍🏼 still very undecided as to wether I’ll start but pharmacist said even one a week would help. Never heard this info before!’

Thankyou, I took Atorvastin for a few weeks but it raised my blood sugar so I stopped. Apparently that is a proven side effect that a lot of people don't know about.
