I have been on 20mg simvastatin for two years with no side effects when, out of the blue, this morning I fainted for no apparent reason. Am wondering if I should mention it to my GP?

Fainting and statins?
If you are worried, you should mention it to your doctor. Fainting is often related to changes in, or lowering of, blood pressure, it may not be statin related.
Yes see your doctor. I often get head rush when I stand up. This is caused by my low pulse of 40 to 44. And occasionally I faint. On talking to the doctor we discovered also this can be caused by Ramspril so we reduced the dosage. I still get head rush. But I hsve to learn to get up slower to allow the blood to pump to my head as I rise.
If you have been taking statins for two years with no effect, I wonder why you should think they have suddenly had a faint. Whatever caused this, you must tell your doctor to enable him(her) to check your blood pressure and other possible causes. Please let the forum know the outcome.
Cannot think why it happened, so read the list of side effects for simvastatin and it listed "lightheadedness" so wondered if anyone else had experienced this. Am due my annual blood test and GP visit and will talk it through.
Thanks for your reply.
