In general - lots of vegetables especially spinach and arugula. Nuts and nut butters, especially almonds. Cold water fish twice per week - eg. wild salmon, trout, arctic char; Legumes - lentils, chick peas, beans of all varieties - you can prepare them in a tomato sauce. Here's a Greek recipe - you can substitute any type of bean or chick peas in place of lima beans if you wish: allrecipes.com/recipe/15293...
Avoid sugars, white bread, white rice, white pasta, white potatoes.
Choose whole grain bread, brown rice, whole wheat pasta.
You should also exercise daily. Start by walking 30 minutes per day and building from there.
Good morning. Basically when you go shopping go with the traffic light system you can't go wrong. Stick with the greens stay away from the reds have some orange eat a lot of fruit and vegetables try stay away from red meat chicken, turkey are fine I tend to try a lot of non meat products like Linda McCartney range or korn. Believe me some of them you can't tell the difference.
Good luck.
I would google Cholesterol in women, and armed with the information discuss it with your doctor, as I believe the evidence says that lowering cholesterol in women does not make any difference to heart health. A lot of other information suggests that cholesterol is an innocent bystander to CHD (policeman are found on the scene of all fatal motoring accidents that does not make them the cause!)
You have had excellent advice on this trail so far as I can see. Although you do not ask about exercise, My experience is that this is tremendously important, obviously within your physical capabilities. Have to say I've encountered similar warnings about plant sterols.
