The best person to answer this question is your GP.

Please take a look at this link:

Thank you :) Have a review appt in December, don't want to keep pestering the hospital with questions! Just know I need to get repeat prescription for the new tablets, so will try and book an appointment with the GP. . . . . Ta :)

Hi, I had a TIA three years ago after having a very active lifestyle and exercise regime. As tempting as it was to continue the exercise after the TIA, I followed the advice of my Consultant/GP and followed their timetable and taking it very easy to begin with. I am now back to the former schedule, so stay motivated and follow the council of the professionals.

Good luck!!

I went back to running 2 weeks after my heart attack but kept the speed down , after having stents fitted I started walking 2 days later then back to running whilst keeping heart rate lie . I didn't do cardiac rehab (I'm stubborn) but still keep my heart rate in certain zones when running so as not to stress the heart to much . You will be encouraged to keep fit to help but you really need to take advise from your consultant as each patient has different needs.

Hi, I was given a booklet on leaving hospital giving a lot of information 'after a heart attack' It includes lots of info including easing back into exercise.maybe you could get it from your cardiac nurse? Very useful, and it answers lots of little questions that come up but you maybe wouldn't want to bother a doctor about.

I built up to cycling 107 miles over the Brecon Beacons in 7hours 2 minutes 6 months after having a heart attack and being prescribed the above.

Hi as I understand it, the best thing if you have a stroke risk is moderate intensity exercise, not going all out - which will raise your blood pressure too much.

Best talk to your GP as advised above, but you could start with a mixture of walking and jogging if they think it's ok to exercise, so you're not exercising too intensely.

Key is what is appropriate for one person can very well be different for another person - always ask the professionals ()and not infrequently you will get different opinions from them!!!).
