A biopsy seems to confirm I'm negative for cancer for the second time this year ...
Beer, plaice and chips, and now a little |Floyd to see off the stress.
Its been a week my brother would describe as "sh_t with egg on". I never know what he means by that, but hey, taking it ....
This week has been tough even by the standards of what I end up putting up with, so if you're finding things tough, me too . Find what's good, then indulge!
If I'm honest, I'm getting a bit bored with medical science finding me "interesting". .....
Anything relating to the big 'C' is soooo stressful, somehow even when a good result follows. Being an interesting case to medical science, I've also found, can have a guinea-pigging effect (all respect to guinea pigs intended) on us humans. It risks overlooking how we're 'feeling' and experiencing it all.
Your brother's expression made me smile ... I get it 😆
Seeking out what's good is something I've had to work very hard on ... way to go! Simple pleasures are so often the best!
Yes, have to agree. In a way, i appreciate they have been so thorough and sure its not cancerous, but the result is i’m now so frazzled ive had to delay the op until i feel ready because im mentally and physically worn out. Thats never going to be helpful for recovery!! At least benign things you can afford to delay, its just sleep is hard as a result. It is what it is though….
Again, I relate 💯 to the extreme frazzle that it all causes. Real turmoil to the system ... which takes a while to come down from! Definitely a good decision to push things back until you feel more up to it. Everything also feels more overwhelming without good sleep. Wishing you well & good luck! ☺️
Yes, this is a great point. Good quality sleep makes such a massive difference to how you feel and how you approach life. Not just a visible difference thing either. We all need good sleep ….. so so crucial!
I completely agree with MaveB (who, btw, has been incredibly helpful to me too) - take a breather, get some quality sleep - sometimes easier said than done but the relief of a benign test result should help somewhat - and distract yourself with things that give you pleasure before having to take another deep breath to face surgery. You're very inspiring x
too right! Been trying to take it easy but it is funny that a negative result for one thing, yes its great, but still have the lump and its attendant issues, and those dont go away with the negative. Wierdly, had this been more serious, it would have been deal with by now. So it is strange.
Have some travel coming up. Jersey first, then the Netherlands. If that doesnt charge my batteries a bit, nothing will!
I can relate to a negative test result leading to surgery and essentially out of your control. I had an ovarian cyst a couple of years ago. Regular blood tests and ultrasounds suggested it was benign so it was my decision whether or not to have surgery. I dragged my heels, feeling consumed by other health issues, after all a benign cyst wasn't of concern. However, blood tests and ultrasound results suddenly changed and surgery was imminent - it was taken out of my control. Tbh I wish I'd just had surgery sooner!! It's never 'the right time' but, as you say, a breather, a bit of travel and self love will give you the strength to better deal with surgery and the recovery process.
Hi CB, glad to hear your positive(!) 'negative' news - but agree with the frazzling nature of all the testing & waiting. It can mean that even a good outcome doesn't come with whoops and cheers straight away.
Nice choice to save some energy and have a rest first - enjoy the chips
Hahaha, Good for you my man!!! Your deserve it and, I deserve to have a toast so you continue just doing fine. Always finding an excuse, but this time is for real, haha. Cheers!! 🤩
