Doing fine, but took a further two days off work this week, post surgery. Felt i needed it.
i did ask the surgeons where this came on the scale of seriousness 1-10 of the op. Not a bright question on my part, so they asked back what i thought a 10 was?
I figured a heart op was probably a 10, so they told me straight. The Plastics team are used to ops at the level of a 3. Mine was more like a 5.holy cow!
so no wonder im feeling ok but a bit ragged. There is such a thing as post op blues. Its where your body diverts energy into starting the healing process, so put like that, no wonder indeed im so tired.
So i would say to anyone having surgery, allow extra time for recovery. Your mind may be ready (mine is) but trust me, i aint jogging anywhere anytime soon!
so crashed out with my music, planning my holidays with Mrs Cb, having the odd tearful moment (yep, i get those too) and just going with the flow….
but it is important i think for anyone contemplating cosmetic surgery. Dont DO ANYTHING for a long period after! You may be in the post op blues!
Glad to read you're doing well Cb! Modern surgery can do incredible things, but you're so right, it still causes turmoil on the system, even though successful. You're doing some very positive things to help recovery though! Take care and rest up. 👍
It does! And it is so easy to forget, or even not realise that it does, too.
After mine, I had a kind of elation, mission accomplished kind of thing. But then we had a little bit of bad luck and some infection got in there, so between that and the antibiotic (which is the size of a WW2 depth charge, though surprisingly easy to take!) no wonder I felt a bit down.
Big believer me in being able to only fully understand things when you factor everything in, and because the wound is on my head and I can't see it, I didn't fully appreciate there was infection because I couldn't actually see it.
ah well. We're back on track now!
just recording this too for my own benefit, and hopefully it may benefit others too.
Had my dressings changed, and we had a surprise. The nurses wanted to show me pictures as proof of this, but i declined as I'm not really ready.
My wound was down to the skull which was in part visible. Just a few days later. The wound is now much smaller. They had to get pictures as evidence for the surgeons.
So the reason I've been in such a funk is my body has been busy doing a super job in healing itself, so much so that there is a remote possibility it may heal without a graft. Holy cow.
Healing is such a powerful process, and it can really take your stamina and your energy from you. Its certainly testing mine! But now I'm hearing the plastics team being so upbeat, time to be less hard on me.
so I need to give my body what it is asking for to support the healing.
Good delicious nutritious food.
Protein, lean and healthy
Sleep and rest.
And the miracle that is the human body will do the rest! That's a deal I'm happy to make!
That's good to read Cb, a welcome boost for you in the post op' phase! The human body never fails to amaze with its ability to mend! Keep taking your own sound advice, it's working! All the best 👍
My man CB....always good to have fresh news from you and feel so good that you're coping with it all finding your body doing its stuff!
I'm pretty sure everything is going to get better each time and that's because of your positive vibes...the mind does it all and you do have a good bag of tricks to go through it. 😉
So friend of mine, hang in there, keep us in the loop!
