I have a facial injury which makes me feel so so anxious to go outside or even see friends . Anyone else struggle with this ? I have panic attacks if I try to leave and have been like this for a year since my major accident.

Help on going outside when look for different due facial injury and lost hair
Thank you for sharing. I completely understand, and I expect a lot of others on here would too. Don't put too much pressure on yourself, take each day at a time. Try not to do too much at once. If you have a trusted friend or family member, then you could go out with them. Sometimes it's easier to go out if you've got someone with you.
Thanks for your kind words. I agree it would be easier with someone but unfortunately I moved to a new area only a month before my accident so I don’t know anyone here snd not close to any friends. I don’t have any family either sadly. I did once go for a walk with a friend and it didn’t helped. Just such a shame I used to be such an outside type of person but now too afraid to go out.
I understand the predicament you're in. I don't have any close friends either. I am sorry to hear you don't have any family. I'm not sure what you can do to be honest. When I go out I usually go out on my own. I'm so used to people staring at me that it doesn't have a big impact in terms of stopping me going out, it still upsets me, but I carry on regardless. I maintain that no one should have such an effect on you that it stops you from going out. You have the right go out and have a walk anywhere in this country and that should never be taken away from you.

Hello there Gem1233 .. How are you doing and feeling today?
Hi there! I had a botched facial surgery about 5 months ago which greatly altered my appearance. I also had trouble going out in public but found if I practiced over and over it got easier. Most people don’t care what others look like; even if we think they do! And if I get an extra glance I have to remember it’s not about them it’s about me and my freedom to live a full life. You can do it:)!
Hi Gem, I haven't posted on this forum for a few years now. I'm sorry to hear of your injury. I can relate. I'm partially restored to how I used to look, but I remember how difficult the early days were. My facial difference has been a useful filter:those who mind don't matter
those who matter don't mind
My advice: fill your life up with lots of nice things, your appearance then becomes just a small slice of the pie, of who you are. When you're out in the street, just know you are entitled to be there. Good luck : )
